What’s up, guys? Today, we’ll show you how easy it is to install SuperATV’s rear sliding rear windshield on a Polaris General XP 1000. Let’s get right to it.
The first thing you need to do is remove all the contents from their packaging. Don’t forget to make sure you have everything you need—this could save you a serious headache down the line. Take the rear windshield and align it with your machine to check the fit. Once you’ve done that and the windshield looks like a good fit, you can remove the protective film.
The next thing you’ll do after removing the protective film is grab the bulb seals. You should have a straight seal that will go along the bottom lip. It will run across the entire bottom of the rear windshield.
Once you’ve done that, take the 90-degree bulb seal and start on either the left or right side of the windshield. Apply it around the remaining uncovered edges of the windshield and stop on the opposite side. Once you’re finished, cut off the excess seal.
Now you need the cage seal from the kit. Apply it along the rear bar on the cage. We will start at one side and run it all the way across.
The next step is applying the brackets. Take the brackets from the kit and install them on the inside of the windshield. You will use our M6 hardware with an M6 Nylock nut. Slide the hardware from the outside to the inside. Then start tightening, but not completely. We don’t want to tighten anything fully just yet. Once we have the lower brackets installed we will install the windshield on the machine.
The lower brackets should be over top of the rear bar on the cage. Take the upper bracket and reach through the rear window. Slide the hardware through the windshield and line it up with the bracket, then align the bracket with the cage. Then start tightening the nut onto the hardware, but just finger-tight.
We got help from a friend for the next part. It’s always helpful to have an extra hand when installing these rear brackets because you have to reach through, tighten the nut, and push it all together at the same time. It’s difficult by yourself.
Once you have all the hardware in place, go ahead and fully tighten all of it.
When the hardware is fully tightened, you’re done installing SuperATV’s sliding rear windshield on a Polaris General XP 1000. Don’t forget to checkout our other awesome accessories for your rig! See you on the trail.
