How to Install SuperATV’s Low Profile Fender Flares on the Can-Am Maverick Trail

What’s up, guys? Today we’re going to show you how easy it is to install SuperATV’s Low Profile Fender Flares on the Can-Am Maverick Trail. And it only takes 26 steps! Let’s get started.

A list of all the tools required to install these fender flares on the Maverick Trail. The list appears in front of a tool box.
Make sure you gather all your tools before you get started.

Install the Front Fender Flare

1) The first thing you’ll do is remove this T30 Torx bolt and set it aside for reuse. You’ll use the same hardware to align the fender flare.

Keep track of this bolt—you’ll reuse it later.

2) Hold the fender flare and line up the 2nd hole from the bottom with the factory hole where you just removed the T30 Torx bolt. Reinsert the bolt and loosely tighten it to hold the flare in place.

3) Align the rest of the flare where it needs to be, then mark through the holes on the flare with a paint marker. This shows you where to drill your holes in the OEM fender. We like to mark and drill two at a time.

A brightly colored paint pen works best for this.

If you can hold the fender flare tightly, you can drill right through the flare into the OEM fender. If not, you can drop the flare and drill where you marked the holes.

4) Once you’ve drilled the holes through the plastic, you can insert the push pins. Keep working around the fender flare, marking the holes, drilling, and inserting push pins until you’ve completed the entire fender flare.

The push pins shouldn’t require much pressure to install and can be inserted with just the thumb.

5) At the top, make sure you’ve pushed the flare back as far as you can before you mark the holes.

6) Once you’ve drilled them, find two long Allen-headed bolts, two SuperATV washers, two flat washers, two nyloc nuts, and the passenger-side front bracket.

7) Take the bracket and align it with the top of the flare with the flat side facing inward toward the machine. The bracket has two holes in the flat side that should align with the holes on the fender flare and the holes you drilled into the OEM fender. The two holes on the outer wings of the bracket should align with the two outer holes on the the fender flare.

8) Slide a SuperATV washer over your hardware, then slide the bolt through the bracket, the fender flare, and the OEM fender. Then put the flat washer on the back, followed by a nyloc nut. Tighten the nut with your fingers until it’s secure, but not too tight. Do the same thing for the other hole.

9) Now, find two short allen bolts, two SuperATV washers, two flat washers, and two nyloc nuts. Install the SuperATV washer to the shorter allen bolts, then slide it through the top of the fender flare into the arm on the bracket. Then install a flat washer and a nyloc nut finger-tight. Do the same thing for the remaining hole.

10) Once all the hardware has been started, you can go through and fully tighten everything. Repeat these steps on the other side to install the driver’s side fender flare.

Now it’s time to move to the rear of the machine.

Install the Rear Fender Flare

11) There’s no factory hardware to utilize on the back of the machine, so we’ll use push pins temporarily to hold the fender flare in place.

12) Take the fender flare and align the bend into the center of the notch. Then use the paint marker to mark the bottom two holes then drill them.

13) Once you’ve done that, use push pins to install the fender flare into the bottom two holes. You will remove the push pins later and replace them with bolts.

14) After you’ve installed those two push pins, go ahead and mark the rest of your holes and drill them. Only drill two holes at a time to help keep the fender flare aligned properly.

Like the front, make sure you keep the flare as tight to the machine as you possibly can. The fender flare holes should work slightly inward to maintain the correct curvature.

15) Four of the top holes will get bolts and bracket just like the front, but the topmost hole will get a push pin, and so will the rest of the holes.

16) Now that you’ve installed all the push pins, you can remove the bottom two push pins to install permanent hardware.

17) To gain access to the back of the fender, remove the T30 Torx at the bottom of the OEM fender and the two above it.

18) Then remove the OEM push pin inside the fender next to the voltage regulator. Take that piece of plastic and slide it out of the way.

Remove the OEM push pin and put it in a safe place, because you’ll reuse it later.

Now you can fully install the hardware to hold the fender flare in place.

19) Take one of the short allen bolts with a SuperATV washer installed and slide it through the bottom hole. Then take a flat washer and slide it over the back of the bolt, followed by a nyloc nut. Tighten it with your fingers until it’s secure but not completely tight. Repeat the same steps with the hole above it.

Gather all your hardware before you get started. It’ll save you a lot of time.

20) After you secure the bottom and secure the topmost push pin, it’s time to do the bolts on the top. First, you’ll need to remove another plastic panel to gain access to the back of the fender flare.

21) To remove the panel, take both twist knobs and turn them to the unlocked position. Then simply grab the panel and remove it. Set it aside for now.

If you’re having issues with the knobs, try turning them with pliers instead. Be careful not to break them.

22) Find your rear bracket, two long bolts, two short bolts, four SuperATV washers, four flat washers, and four nyloc nuts.

Again, collect all your hardware before you get started to save time.

23) The bracket will be oriented with the two arms facing out. Take one of the long screws with a SuperATV washer on it and install it through the main section of the bracket and up through the fender flare and the OEM fender.

24) Then take the flat washer and a nyloc nut and tighten it with your fingers just enough to keep the bracket from falling out. Repeat this for the hole on the other side of the bracket.

25) Now take one of the short bolts with a SuperATV washer and drop it down through the fender flare and the bracket. Slide a flat washer and a nyloc nut on and tighten it with your hands so it doesn’t fall off. Do the same with the hole on the other side, then fully tighten all the hardware on the rear fender flare.

26) Reinstall the service panel by placing it back over the hole and tightening the knobs to the locked position. Then return the panel back into the wheel well. Slide it into position and line up the holes with the holes on the OEM fender. Then reinstall the factory T30 Torx bolts and the push pin.

You’re Done! (Almost)

You’ll repeat the same steps on the opposite side to install the rear fender flare. Once you’ve done that, that’s all there is to it to install our Low Profile Fender Flares on the Can-Am Maverick Trail.
