Can’t decide between a full windshield, half windshield, or a flip down windshield? Well SuperATV has you covered with our 3-in-1 Windshield, and today we’re going to show you how to get one installed on the Can-Am Defender.
[00:18] First, remove both portions of your windshield out of the box. Couple them together—they’ll slide on the slots. Lay it up into position and make sure it fits. Ours does, so we’ll get it on our table and remove our protective film.
[00:33] Next, grab your D-seal.
On the Lower Portion
We’ll start midway up this edge right here and run it all the way across. This is the lower windshield. Then we’ll come right here and cut off the excess.
On the Frame
[00:56] Next, we’ll install our D-seal all the way up the frame of the cage, all the way across, and all the way down the opposite side. Once you get here, cut your seal. Once we get right there, we’ll cut off our excess.
First Set of Clamps
[01:39] Next, we’ll grab our clamp. It’ll have two portions. One portion says SuperATV and has the hook on the back. The other portion has the actual clench.
Take them. The SuperATV always needs to be on the outside. Then take our clamp and install it so that the opening is facing away. Get it lined up and pull it. It’ll fit just like this.
Repeat the steps for the opposite side.
[02:05] Take our windshield and lay it like this. Slide it up to where the clamps line up perfectly. Get this side fastened and do the same on the opposite side.
Drilling
[02:26] Next, get an 8 mm drill bit and drill all the holes in this lower windshield. Go through the dash on each.
In the kit, there are two different sizes of push pins. The two long ones will go on the outside, so they’ll be on the edge. The short ones will go in the center section. Finish it off with putting the last long one here on the edge.
Brackets
[03:09] Next, loosen the brackets on the top windshield. Line it on both of our channels here. You have to wiggle it around to lock it into place.
Now, we want to line up our brackets on the dash flat. Once you have them set, we’ll fully tighten them to where they stay in place. It can be tricky to get your wrench in there. Make sure to tighten both sides of the bracket and both brackets.
Sticky Foam
[03:58] Next, we’ll get our two-sided sticky foam. One side has the adhesive, and we’ll leave the backing on the other side. Stick it onto our magnet. Then we’ll grab our other piece of foam and remove the backing from both sides. Line it up with the magnet and peel the backing. It’ll have adhesive on this side, as well as sticking to the magnet. Then this side will have the foam.
Lift up the bracket, lay the foam into position, and apply a good amount of pressure down. We’ll do the same exact thing for the opposite side. You’ll want to let these sit for a little while.
Last Set of Clamps
[05:02] Again, we’ll grab our clamps. The SuperATV side will be facing towards the outside like this. Then we’ll install our clamp just like this. Do it for both sides.
Then flip it up and clamp it to the cage. Repeat the same step for the opposite side.
[05:32] There you have it. That’s how super quick and easy it is to install SuperATV’s 3-in-1 Windshield on this Can-Am Defender.
