[0:00] Introduction

If you’re looking to carry more gear without giving up bed space, SuperATV’s Over-the-Bed Rack for the Honda Pioneer 1000-6 is the perfect solution. This heavy-duty rack increases your machine’s storage capacity by 50%, supports up to 300 pounds, and provides a secure platform for tools, camping equipment, and more. In this video, you’ll get a complete step-by-step install guide.

[0:52] Pre-Installation Notes

Before installation, there are a few important fitment considerations. If you’re using a factory Honda roof, you may need to trim the rear corner area slightly to accommodate the new roof brackets. If you’re running a SuperATV roof (as shown here), simply remove the existing corner cover to make room. The machine in this video is also equipped with a SuperATV rear windshield, and while the rack is compatible, it may require minor adjustments for clamp clearance near the lower corners.

[1:24] Step 1 – Install Rear Cage Clamp

Begin by removing the pre-installed screws from the clamp provided in your hardware kit. Wrap the clamp around the rear upper cage tube, positioning the threaded portion so it faces the rear of the machine. Slide it into place just above the bed’s sidewall. From inside the cab, insert the screws and hand-tighten them to secure the clamp loosely. Do not fully tighten yet, as you’ll need to make adjustments later.

[1:56] Step 2 – Swap OEM Roof Corner Bracket for Rack Bracket

If you’re using a SuperATV roof, remove the existing plastic roof corner bracket. Replace it with the rack’s roof bracket, which comes in the kit. Use the factory hardware you just removed to mount the new bracket securely. If you’re running an OEM roof, you’ll need to trim the plastic corner to allow the new bracket to fit around the roll cage tubing. Ensure the new bracket is aligned and tightened firmly.

[3:07] Step 3 – Install the Top Bracket and Attach with Support Clamp

Take the provided top bracket and insert it into the newly installed roof bracket—it should slide into place easily. Next, grab the M6x20 mm socket head bolts and use a 5 mm Allen wrench to fasten the top bracket to the clamp using the existing threaded holes. Again, leave the hardware snug but not fully tightened to allow for later alignment.

[3:52] Step 4 – Attach the Rack Brace and Gusset

Now it’s time to add strength to your rack with the rack brace. Use the M8x16 mm bolt with a 10 mm head to connect the brace to the previously installed clamp. This is the only point holding the brace in place at this stage, so make sure it’s snug. Then, connect the gusset plate between the brace and top bracket using M8x20 mm bolts. This triangulated structure gives the rack solid vertical and horizontal support. Repeat this process on the other side of the machine.

[5:06] Step 5 – Install the Rear Rack Section

With both side supports in place, lift the rear rack section and lay it on top of the braces. Align the three mounting holes on each side of the rack with the holes on the support brackets. Insert six M8x20 mm bolts (three per side) and secure them with Nylock nuts. Use a 10 mm wrench or socket to snug them into place. This forms the foundational structure of your rack system.

[6:17] Step 6 – Add the Front Rack Section

Next, grab the front half of the bed rack and carefully place it on top of the rear half. It won’t balance easily, so have your M8x20 mm bolts ready to thread in immediately. Align the holes, insert the bolts, and add nuts on the inside to hold the front section securely in place while you prepare to add connecting plates.

[6:44] Step 7 – Join Front and Rear Rack Sections with Internal Joint Plates

To unify the two rack sections, use the included joint plates. These go on the inside of the rack frame and are shaped to contour around the internal slot. Each joint plate takes six M6 Allen bolts and Nylock nuts. Insert the bolts from the outside in and snug them using a 4 mm Allen and 10 mm wrench. Repeat this process for both the left and right side joint plates.

[7:19–7:50] Step 8 – Final Side Frame Connections

Along the outside length of the rack frame, you’ll find pre-drilled alignment holes where the two rack halves meet. Use additional M6 bolts and Nylock nuts to lock them together. This reinforces the rack’s rigidity across the entire frame. Fully tighten the hardware once everything is in place, using a 4 mm Allen and 10 mm wrench.

[7:54] Step 9 – Optional Cube Light Mounting or Block-Off Plate Install

When ordering your bed rack, you have the option to include LED cube lights. If you didn’t, your kit will come with block-off plates to cover the mounting holes. Simply use four M6 Allen bolts and Nylock nuts per side to install the plates. This step is quick and keeps your rack looking clean and professional if you choose not to install lighting right away.

[8:30] Final Step

Go through the entire rack assembly and fully tighten every bolt. Ensure all joints are secure and clamps are properly fastened. Reinstall any factory Honda components you may have removed earlier in the process.
