What’s up, guys? Braden here with SuperATV and today we’re going to install our Flip-Up Seat Base on this Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000. After you’ve installed this flip-up seat kit, you’ll gain access to valuable storage space that’s much easier to get to. Let’s get right to it.

Remove the Seat Cushion and Seat Base

The first thing we’re going to do is remove our seat cushion. If you reach around to the front of the cushion, you’ll feel a latch. Lift directly up on that latch and remove your seat. It’ll be this latch here. Take the cushion and set it aside.

[0:56] Then we’ll come over to the front of the base and remove the two bolts securing the base to the frame of the machine. Grab a hold of the seat adjuster, pick it straight up, and slide the seat forward.

Next, come back to the rear-most bolts and remove those as well. Then we’re going to grab the seat base, lift it up, and remove it from the machine.

Remove the Inner and Outer Rails

Now we’re going to grab our rails. We have an inner rail and an outer rail. The way you can tell between the two is that the inner rail has this hole right here, where it’s filled in. This one is open, so this will be the outer and this is the inner.

We’re going to lay these down and they will line up with the factory threaded holes, just like so.

[1:56] You’re going to have a factory bolt right here. Go ahead and remove that—we already loosened ours. Take your latch and lift up your outer rail like this, and line up. I like to immediately put this bolt back in, just loosely. We’re not tightening anything just yet.

Start Your Hardware in the Rails

Get the 8 mm hardware that was provided. If your machine is a 2022 and up, you’ll use the 10 mm hardware. As you can see, we have all four of our mounting locations lined up. We’re just going to start our hardware in each of these. Again, we’re not fully tightening just yet.

These OEM threads seem to strip out really easily so what I like to do is get an Allen and just run these down by hand to make sure our threads are good. Make sure you have a good bite on all these threads.

[3:06] Also in your kit, you will have these rubber bumpers. You’ve really got to push on them and rotate them around a little bit when you put them in. I’m going to spray some lubricant on these so they slide in that much easier.

See, that one slid in pretty good. I’m just pushing down and at the same time, rotating a little bit.

Attach Brackets to the Seat Bottom

Now we’re going to grab our seat and flip it upside down on the table. As you can see, this is the front, where the adjuster is. The actual back is facing toward me.

We’re going to grab our right side bracket and line it up with the factory holes that we removed our mounting hardware out of. Once we have it lined up in all four corners, we’re going to grab our tapered Allens, our M8 x 1.25 screws, and drop them through these holes.

Then we’ll grab our M8 x 1.25 nuts and thread them right onto our screws.

Fully Tighten All Hardware

[5:00] We’ll slide this forward enough so we can get our nuts on the front hardware as well.

And once all of our hardware is started, we’ll fully tighten it.

Now we’re going to take our striker, as well as our jam nut, and slide the striker in. Get the jam nut started and then I’m going to fully tighten this. Now we’ll take a 6 mm Allen and fully tighten these.

Re-Install the Seat and Repeat Steps on the Opposite Side

[6:14] Next, take the seat and lay it in the machine. Line it up just like this, to make sure the front holes line up. Once everything is positioned, we’ll grab our hitch pins and slide those in. Then take the cotter pins and install them.

Now all you have to do is click down on this latch and lift straight up, and you can gain access to behind your seat if you had something back there that you were storing. Then latch it right down into place and you’re good to go.

Now just repeat those same steps on the opposite side.

[7:09] That’s all there is to installing SuperATV’s Flip-Up Seat Kit on this Kawasaki KRX 1000. Be sure to check us out online to pick yours up today! Thanks for watching and we’ll catch you on the next one.
