[0:00] Are you looking for more protection on the front of your Can-Am Maverick X3? SuperATV has got you covered with our Heavy-Duty Front Bumper, and today we’re gonna show you how to get it installed.
The first thing we’re gonna do is remove the hood from the machine. We’ll just grab a hold of it, pull straight up, and pop it right out. Then go ahead and disconnect both of these bolts right here, that attach the fan shroud to the central hood.
Then you’ll want to take an 18mm socket and an 18mm wrench and loosen the hardware for your shocks. We’ve already done this.
[0:50] We’re going to use our lift to take the weight off of the suspension here, so we can get our shocks out.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get loose and grab a hold of the shock. Kind of pull it out a little bit, like that. Get your nuts completely off. You should be able to pull the bolt out. We’re gonna use a push pin removal tool and just kind of slide back in behind the head of the bolt. Just pry it off the central hood here to get it to come out all the way.
There’s one shock bolt. Take a pry bar and kind of just wiggle this bolt—there we go.
[1:48] So the central hood is removed. Take the central hood and set it aside. We’re gonna grab our new central hood. We went ahead and grabbed all of our hardware, but as of right now, we’re just gonna need our two long bolts that are in the hardware kit.
Then we’ll take our new central hood and get it laid into position. We have one side lined up. We’ll go ahead and get our bolt slipped through.
Now we’ll do the opposite side.
[2:42] We’ve got one side started. This side isn’t started yet, so we’re going to raise the machine just a little bit to get it to line up. We’ll go ahead and get this side bolt pressed all the way through to the point where we can get our nut started on it. Then we’ll want to get this side worked through.
I think we’re going to move our lifts a little bit more here. We might have to go down just a little bit to help us get this one started. We’re gonna put a socket on this bolt head here, and we’re gonna slide our nut right down to the threads and just start threading it in as we go.
[3:51] We’re not gonna fully tighten our hardware yet. We’re just gonna make sure that everything is good and started. We’ll go ahead and get our bolts started here. And where our central hood goes to our fan shroud, we’ll just use the smaller bolt.
We’re gonna go ahead and come over here to our bumper. We’re gonna use a 6mm Allen to remove all the bolts. Go ahead and pop the bolts out. Have them ready to go for whenever get our bumper in place.
So what we’re gonna do—we’ll have our hardware sitting right here ready to go, and right here on our tire. That way we can grab it.
We’re gonna take this portion of the clamp and slide it right here.
[4:53] So for this next step we’ve got Kemper here helping us today. We had him help us because this clamp right here that attaches to the bumper, it needs to go onto the front bulkhead bar here. So it’s really hard to hold it by yourself and get your bumper aligned.
So if you’re running a winch, you’ll want to feed your winch line right through this portion of the bumper right there, on the lower part. You’ll just want to slide your bumper into position, get it lined up with your clamps. And once you have it somewhat lined up, go ahead and get your hardware started.
Then once we have them all started, we’ll just take a ratchet, go through, and make sure we have them good and started. We don’t want to fully tighten anything just yet.
[6:06] Now we’re gonna come up here to the top and line up these bolts that come in the hardware kit to the holes and the central bumper. So we’ll just get that lined up. We’ll get a 13mm socket and the extension and get those started.
Now we’ll go ahead and take our bolt and slide it into position. Make sure we got it good and started. Do the same thing over here for the opposite side.
Once we have them started, we’ll just go ahead and take a ratchet. Start tightening them up a little bit, just to make sure that our bolts are good and straight. Then just go ahead and fully tighten these bolts here.
Then we’ll grab our 18mm socket and 18mm wrench and fully tighten the bolts that go through the central hood to our shock.
Then we’ll go ahead and tighten our hardware that attaches the fan shroud to the central bumper. And we’ll come down here to our clamps and fully tighten those as well.
[8:16] Once we have everything lined up, everything looks like it’s fitting good. We can go ahead and remove our two top bolts. Pull our bumper back just enough so we can get our hood reinstalled. Just slide it right down into position here.
Pop it back into place and then we’ll go ahead and get our bumper bolts reinstalled, attaching our bumper to our central hood. Go through and fully tighten all the hardware.
The last thing we’re gonna do after we went through and double checked all of our hardware is grab our end caps and our Allen-headed hardware. Line it up right here on the bumper tube, where it’s threaded.
