Are you looking for a full glass windshield that has vents as well as a wiper? Well, SuperATV has you covered and today we’re going to show you how to install it on a Can-Am Commander.
[00:40] The first thing you are going to do is remove all of your contents from the packaging. Then, take your windshield and lay it up on the machine—confirm that it fits. We’ve already done this. So what we’re going to do is take our seal and apply it the the top of the windshield. As you can see, we have already done it. You will want to install yours just as we did ours.
[01:07] Next, we’re going to grab our vent. We’re going to install it to our studs. You can leave it open or you can close it—it’s totally up to you. We’re going to close ours since it’s a bit chilly. We’re going to take our thumb screws here and get them lined up. Just go ahead and snug them down. We’ll repeat the same steps for the opposite side over here. Again, close them up. Put your thumbs screws on.
[01:42] Next, we’re going to grab our bulb seal and install it so that the bulb portion of the seal is facing towards the inside of the machine. We’re going to run it from here all the way around the windshield and stop right here. Then just cut off your excess.
[02:20] Then, we are going to remove our nut off of our wiper handle. Pull this piece out. Go ahead and remove one of the nuts off of one side and then this piece here. Then you want to orient it just like this. So you are going to have a washer and a rubber washer. It’s going to go down through the windshield. At the bottom, you will use the rubber washer, and then the flat washer. Then, you will install your nut. Next, you’ll get two 17 mm wrenches and snug it right out. It doesn’t have to be crazy tight. You just want to get it where it’s good and snug.
[03:10] You will take our wiper handle and slide it through. Grab your wiper (there’s going to be a little plastic piece here you’ll want to remove). Get your wiper to where it is oriented like this. Make sure your handle is straight. Line it up with the splines. Get your nut on and then you will want to just fully tighten that nut. I like to just use a ratchet wrench—you don’t have to get it too tight. Snug it up. Then, what we will do is pull our windshield out just a bit and flip our handles up. We’re going to take our cover like so and cover the head of the bolt.
[04:08] Now we’re ready to get this bad boy installed to the machine. So what I like to do is get it lined up to the holes in the frame. We will take the hardware, slide it through, and get the hardware started. We’re going to place our nut on the back side. Again, make sure the steal washer is going down towards the frame. Do the same thing over here. Then we’re going to grab our clamp and loosen the hardware. We’re just going to slide it through here. Make sure your bracket is on your clamp. Slide your hardware through the windshield and through the clamp.
We’re going to go ahead and get hardware started here. And the hardware we are using here is exactly the same hardware we just used to attach the frame of the windshield to the cage of the machine. Now what we’re going to do is tighten our clamps to the cage and then tighten this hardware. Finally, we’ll tighten the hardware that attaches the frame to the cage.
[05:47] So that’s all there is to installing this Can-Am Commander glass windshield. To pick yours up, be sure to check the description for a link. Also, drop a like, comment, and don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching and we’ll catch you on the next one.
