[0:00] What’s up guys? Today we’re going to install our full glass windshield on this Polaris RZR PRO XP. Let’s get right to it.
Start by grabbing the upper portion of the windshield. As you can see, it has all these bolt holes along the bottom. This cutout needs to line up with the hole here, which is where the windshield wiper will be installed.
Now we’re going to line it up with the holes. Make sure the bend is exactly like we have ours. As you can see, this is the inside of the windshield. This is the inside as well. It’s flat and it bends up toward you if you have it oriented just like we do.
[1:02] Now we’ll take our M8 hardware and start it in the holes with the screw head on the outside of the windshield. Again, this is the inside. Make sure our nut is on the inside and the bolt head is on the outside.
Once your hardware is started, you’re good to fully tighten your hardware.
[2:15] The next thing we’ll do is grab our gasket and apply it down this edge of the windshield, all the way to here. Cut off the excess.
Now we’ll grab our gasket and peel the backing. Take the gasket and lay it all along the edge of the windshield. We’ll start it at the top edge, keeping it very tight to the edge of the frame. We’re going to lay it all the way to this side and just cut off the little bit of excess.
When cutting off the excess, you can tear it. I like to use a razor blade though.
Now we’ll repeat the same step on the opposite side. Then grab the bulb seal and make sure the bulb portion, which is this part here, is facing toward the inside.
[3:30] The way our windshield is oriented means it will be facing up. So we’ll start right here on this edge and apply it all the way across. Then cut off the excess.
Once we get to this point here, we’re ready to cut off the excess. I like to use side cuts. That makes it easier because there are these little steel bands inside there. If you get a hold of one, a side cut will help you get through it.
Then go through and make sure your bulb seal is firmly seated all the way across. Just go back through and push on all of it.
[5:04] Now we’ll take the other bulb seal from the kit. Start on this edge at the bottom of the gasket and run it all along the windshield. Stop right here and cut off the excess.
Next, we’ll grab our clamp from the kit. As you can see, it’s already assembled here. First, take the nut off and pull the screw from the clamp. Set the clamp aside.
You’ll have a rubber grommet with a steel insert inside of it. We need to get that insert out. Usually, I just take the screw and try to work the grommet out with it. That usually works pretty well.
[6:23] Here are all of our pieces separated. Take the grommet, insert it into one of the holes, and make sure it spins. You don’t want it to be wadded up on one side or the other. Then take your insert and slide it in like this.
Take your screw and make sure the washer is on the head of the screw here. I’m going to slide it through. Then take the clamp and open the clamp up. You’ll see this side has a bend in it and this side is flat. Take the flat side and put it on the threads.
Then grab the nut that you previously removed and start it. I just bend the clamp down and out of the way, so when we go to install it, we can just wrap it right around and fasten the nut. So we’ll keep it in this position here for now, until we go to install it.
[7:30] We’ll repeat the same steps for the other three holes, getting the grommets and clamps set up and ready to go.
Next, we’re going to grab the wiper handle and remove the nut from the end of the handle. Then we’ll remove the insert. Take the nut completely off of one side. Take all the washers off. You’ll have one flat washer up against the nut and then a rubber washer.
We’re going to slide it through just like this. We’ll install a rubber and a flat washer, then another nut. To tighten this up, I use a 17mm socket and a 17mm wrench. Hand tightening these is also perfectly acceptable. Just use the socket to hold it, take the wrench, and tighten it up. It doesn’t need to be super tight.
[9:41] Once you see the rubber start to squish out a little bit, you know you’re good and tight. Now we’re going to grab our wiper arm. There will be a plastic cover. Wiggle that out. Do you see this lever here? You’ll grab it and flip it up, just like so. Then you’ll take the handle for the wiper and slide it from the inside up through here.
I like to make sure it’s nice and straight. Once it’s straight, we’ll line the wiper arm up and then take the nut that was previously removed from the handle. Run that down until it’s hand tightened.
Then we’ll grab a 10mm wrench. As we’re holding onto the handle, tighten it down. It doesn’t need to be super tight but it will get to the point where it’s starting to go down on the splines. Once it does that, you’re good to go.
[10:55] Now we can go ahead and grab our wiper blade. If you look, there’s a little hook here, kind of like a U. Line that up with this piece inside the wrapper. Now we’re going to slide this on there. You’ll hear it click. Then remove the cover from the blade and put it aside.
We can just lay our wiper down onto the glass. Then take the plastic cover that we previously removed and pop it right back into place, just like that.
[11:26] Now we’re ready to install the windshield to the machine. When installing this glass windshield, it’s nice to have somebody to help you. But if not, you can definitely accomplish this by yourself.
Once the windshield is somewhat in position, remove the nut from the screw here. Wrap the clamp around and get it onto the threads of the screw. Then we’ll take the nut and start it.
Once that’s done, make sure the windshield is in position. Then go through and start all of the nuts on the screws for the clamps.
[12:47] After that, go through and fully tighten all our hardware. I have a Phillips bit here on my drill and a 10mm wrench.
The last thing we’ll do on the windshield is install the vents. Just slide them into place, take the thumb screws, and thread them on. If you want it in the open position, you can tighten the vent down so it’s open. Or you can loosen it, close the vent, and tighten your thumb screw back down. And now your vents are closed.
Repeat the same exact step for the opposite side.
