What’s up guys? Today we’re going to be showing you how to install our SuperATV Grille and light bar on this RZR PRO XP. So let’s get right to it.
[00:15] First, we’ll remove the dash because it makes it a lot easier to run the wiring and make everything look nice. Remove the two bolts out of the hood. Then pick up on the hood to remove it. Remove these two screws.
Now head into the cab and remove this screw behind the dash cluster and this screw as well. The grab this gray trim piece and pick up on it and it’ll pop right off. Set it aside. Then remove these torx screws. You may have to use and extension.
Then remove this panel piece. I have a non-marring popper tool that’s really good for shoving up against these panels without scratching or breaking them. Then remove the center tray. If your machine is equipped with ride command, make sure you pull your USB out. Ours is not.
Now pop open the glove box and grab this piece here. Sometimes you can peel these panels off, and sometimes you have to use a tool. Once you get it popped off, continue removing hardware. You don’t have to remove these lower ones. It’s not actually holding the upper portion of the dash on.
Next, remove this push pin that’s holding the plastic down to the machine. It makes it easier to get the dash out. Now pick the dash up and set it aside. So there you go. You don’t have to take all your fascia and plastic off to get this dash out. Now we have access to all of our wiring and it’s going to make it so much nicer.
[03:13] The light bar that comes with this kit is a universal light bar. It has hot and ground terminals so you could put this on anything. The RZR PRO XP has a pulse-style bus bar, so it doesn’t have tradition studs for your hot and your ground. What you need to complete the install is our pulse plug. You can purchase one of these off of SuperATV.com. It has a red all-time hot that will be wired to your battery, an orange keyed-on power source wire which will be wired into our red light bar wire, and then the brown which is the ground.
First cut the ends off of the harness. I like to cut them to where they’re about the same length, but it doesn’t have to be perfect. Take the orange wire and we’re going to butt connect it with an insulated connector. Slide the red and orange wire right into it the crimp it. I always like to pull on them to make sure it’s a solid connection.
Now repeat the same process for the black and brown wires. Now use a heat gun to shrink the connectors down. And now our harness is ready to plug right into the machine.
[05:00] The next thing we’ll do is get our light bar attached to our grille. Lay the grille down on it’s face just like this, then set the light bar down in there.
Use the shorter headed screws with the bigger threads from the included hardware kit. Line the hole up and thread it all the way in on both sides. Use the allen wrench to fully tighten it. This is when you want to pick your light bar angle. I like to keep it straight. Some like to angle it down a little bit.
Now the grille is ready to be installed. Push down on these two tabs and slide the grille right out. Then grab the new grill and slide it in. We’re just gonna let it sit here until we feed our wiring harness through. But all it takes to install it is to push it into the tabs. Nothing to it.
[06:38] So now we’ll start running our wiring. We’re going to try to keep all of the extra wiring that we have underneath the dash. You can cut your wiring down if you want. To start, find the hole in the firewall and run the harness right through it. After that, feed a good amount through. If we have extra, we can pull it back through and tie it up. You need enough to where you can get to it out here in the front.
Then start running the wiring. We’re going to follow the rest of our harnesses. Right here is where we’re going to make our connection. I can pull this out to show you—we just ran our harness right up through here so we can make an easy connection.
Now as you install the grille, pull the connection down to make it nice and clean looking up here. Make sure you’re in the cannels, pick up a little bit and push the grille in until it snaps into place.
Then pull the wiring so it looks nice and clean. You can even take it to the other side so that you can’t see it. I’m going to tuck all my wiring the nicest way possible as long as it doesn’t get hung up in the fan. I’m routing mine right along the radiator and heat exchanger intercooler. That way you don’t see the harness running to the front.
Now there are a couple more connections to make. This plug right here is going to go in place of one of these dummy plugs. I’m going to route mine underneath and then plug it in so it looks a little better.
Then we just need to find a place to mount this. You can mount it anywhere you want. Before we do that, I’m going to feed this rocker switch wire through. This will tell me how everything’s going to lay.
Now we’ll show you how you can tuck your wires to make them look really clean. What I like to do is make loops with them. Just loop them up like this then zip tie this bundle together. Once it’s zip tied together, we can tuck it underneath the dash here so it’s not really noticeable. After that, you’re not going to see any wires hanging down.
Next, we’ll use a self-tapping screw to mount this to the firewall. Just make sure there’s nothing on the other side you can damage. We have the plug facing down so that if any water gets in here it’ll run right out.
Next grab the rocker switch. The rocker switch plugs into this harness right here. Now with everything wired up, we can check it. Our switch is lighting up, and whenever we click it on, our light bar’s working. Now we know everything’s wired correctly, so all we need to do is run the wires back through and pop the rocker switch into the factory location.
