How to Install a High Clearance A-Arms on the Polaris RZR XP/XP 1000

What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV, and today I’m going to be showing you how to install SuperATV’s A-Arms on this Polaris RZR XP. Let’s get right to it.

Removal [0:35]

Our machine already has a set of SuperATV A-Arms on it, but the removal process is very similar to the OE arms. For the OE arms, you’ll need to drill out a couple of rivets to detach the brake lines. Start by removing the wheels and tires.

Brake Caliper Removal and Knuckle Removal [1:05]

1:05: Go ahead and remove your cotter pin using a pair of side cuts. Remove the castle nut with a 30 mm socket and take off the washer. Next, remove the 15 mm bolts securing your brake caliper. It’s okay to let the caliper hang temporarily. Once the caliper is removed, take off the hub and use an 18 mm socket to remove the tie rod end from the knuckle.

1:56: To remove the knuckle, you might need two hammers. Tap the knuckle to loosen it. Then, use a 15 mm socket and wrench to remove the pinch bolts securing the ball joint to the knuckle. While you’re at it, use the same tools to remove the upper and lower shock bolts. Once the hardware is removed, wiggle the knuckle off and set it aside.

Sway Bar Link and Brake Line Removal [3:26]

Use a 15 mm socket and wrench to disconnect the sway bar link. Next, detach the brake line from the A-Arms. On stock arms, you’ll need to drill out the rivets. With SuperATV arms, just remove the proprietary fasteners.

A-Arm Mounting Hardware Removal [4:04]

Now, move to the A-Arm mounting bolts. As you loosen these bolts, support the shock with a ratchet strap to keep it out of the way. Once the upper and lower bolts are removed, take off the arms.

Installation of New A-Arms and Upper A-Arm [5:23]

We pre-ordered our A-Arms with ball joints and bushings already installed. Begin by fitting the lower A-Arm into the frame tabs. Sometimes you may need a dead blow hammer to tap it into position. Once aligned, install and hand-tighten the hardware.

Fit the upper A-Arm and install the hardware. If you’ve had your A-Arms off before, make sure to replace the Nylock nuts to avoid them backing off during rides. Install the grease zerk on the forward-most upper pivot tube and tighten it.

Brake Line Attachment and Reattaching Shock and Sway Bar [7:34]

7:34: Reattach the brake line to the new A-Arms using the provided hardware. Keep the brake line loose for adjustments.

8:15: Remove the ratchet strap and reattach the shock. Then, reconnect the sway bar link to the new A-Arms.

Reinstalling Knuckle and Hub [8:45]

Line up the knuckle with the axle and the ball joint. You may need to tap it gently to fit it in place. Once aligned, reinstall the hub and secure it with the castle nut and washer. Reattach the brake caliper and secure it with the 15 mm bolts.

Tie Rod End and Final Adjustments [9:57]

Reinstall the tie rod end to the knuckle and secure it with a nut. Ensure all hardware is fully tightened and check the condition of the Nylock nuts.
