What’s up guys? Today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s powered flip windshield on this Polaris Razer XP Turbo. Let’s get right to it!
The first thing we’re going to do is head over to the machine and start running our wires. Begin by removing the hood and setting it aside. Then, remove the four T40 Torx screws – two at the front and two on the sides. Next, take out the center compartment to access the area behind the dashboard. This will give us the necessary space to route the wires for the powered windshield.
You need to decide whether to run your wires through the small opening in the plastic next to the cage or lay them on top where the dash pinches them. The existing hole behind the cage tube might not be large enough to feed the harness through. To address this, use a bur bit or sandpaper to enlarge the hole. Once the hole is adequately sized, feed the connectors through and pull the wire through the hole. Repeat this process on the opposite side to ensure both sets of wires are properly routed.
Next, feed the plug through to the rocker switch hole and pull it out. Connect the rocker switch by plugging it in and ensuring the correct orientation. Once connected, snap the rocker switch securely into place. This switch will control the opening and closing of your powered windshield.
Remove the cap from the fuse holder and locate the grommet on the firewall. Feed the fuse holder through the grommet, pulling the wires through until they are accessible. Similarly, feed the ground terminal through the grommet. These wires will connect to your vehicle’s electrical system to power the windshield actuator.
Connect the ground lead to the center terminal and the hot lead to the far left terminal using a 10mm socket to secure the connections. Once connected, pull the slack back into the dash to keep the wiring tidy. You can secure the fuse holder to the firewall with a self-tapper or a zip tie, making sure it’s easily accessible in case you need to replace a fuse.
Use the provided zip ties to tidy up the excess wiring. Reinstall the dashboard by snapping it back over the cluster and ensuring all grommets are aligned. Secure it with the four T40 Torx screws you removed earlier. Finally, reinstall the hood, making sure everything is properly aligned and secured.
Before installing the windshield, remove the protective film from both sides. Apply the bulb seal along the specified edges: the top, sides, and along the contour. Make sure the bulb seal is facing up towards you as you apply it to ensure a proper seal. This will help prevent water and debris from entering the cabin.
Remove the hardware from the clamps and install them loosely on the cage. Position the clamps so they sit appropriately for the windshield installation. This step ensures that the windshield can be securely mounted to the vehicle’s frame.
Apply the D-seal along the specified edge of the windshield. Attach the left and right side brackets using the provided hardware, leaving it loose initially to allow for adjustments. Once the brackets are in place, install the short Allen-headed hardware through the brackets to secure them.
Install the bushings into the actuator, ensuring they are properly seated. Attach the actuator to the bracket using the provided hardware. Repeat this process for the opposite side. The actuator will control the opening and closing of the windshield, allowing for easy operation.
Lift the windshield up to the machine and align it with the brackets. Start the hardware through the windshield into the bracketry, making sure everything is aligned properly. Once aligned, fully tighten the hardware to secure the windshield to the machine.
Attach the actuator to the windshield and start the hardware. Plug the actuator into the pre-routed wiring. Open the windshield slightly to allow for hardware installation, then fully tighten all hardware. This step ensures the actuator is properly connected and functional.
Open the windshield completely and secure the wiring out of the way using zip ties. If a soft cab is installed, ensure the windshield fits properly and trim if necessary. Double-check all hardware to make sure it is fully tightened. This step ensures that the installation is complete, and everything is securely in place.
