What’s up guys, today we’re going to be showing you how easy it is to install Super ATV’s rear seat cargo rack on a Polaris RZR 4. This rack will enhance your vehicle’s storage capacity, making it perfect for carrying extra gear on your adventures. So, let’s get right to it.
The first thing we’re going to do is come to the rear of the machine and go ahead and remove our rear seats. To do this, simply pick up on the latch on the back side of the seat and lift it right out. This step is crucial for creating space to install the new cargo rack.
Once you have your seat removed, you can either remove the base off the seat or buy new bases. For this install, we went ahead and got brand new OEM Polaris bases to install with our rear seat cargo rack. If you prefer to use your factory seat base, remove the following four pieces of hardware. After removing these, the base will lift right off, ready for the next step.
Now that we have our base removed from our seat or we have a brand-new OEM Polaris base, we’re going to start assembling our cargo rack. Lay out all components and take a moment to familiarize yourself with the hardware. Look at our hardware kit; we’re going to use the Allen-headed hardware. We’re going to go ahead and get four of those out to get started. Lay the cargo rack on top of the base, ensuring it’s properly aligned.
With the cargo rack laid on top of the mount, make sure the side that’s boxed in is facing up and the side with the tab off the side is facing downward. Align the four holes in the top of the rack with the corresponding holes in the mount. Drop the Allen-headed hardware through these holes, ensuring they pass through both the rack and the base.
Next, grab four Nylock nuts from the hardware kit. Reach down to the bottom side where the hardware protrudes through the mount and start threading the nuts onto the bolts. It’s important to get all four started before fully tightening any of them. Once all nuts are in place, go ahead and fully tighten them. Note that there’s a bit of adjustability from side to side, so you might need to make minor adjustments for a perfect fit.
When positioning the seat base, ensure that the two tabs on the seat base (this is an OEM Polaris seat base) are facing forward. This orientation allows the seat to reinstall just like it did originally. Lift the assembly and place it into the channel, ensuring it sits correctly. This step is crucial for ensuring the seat can be reinstalled smoothly.
With the seat base positioned correctly, grab four M8 bolts, four washers, and four M8 Nylock nuts from the hardware kit. Slide each bolt up through the holes, followed by a washer and then a nut. Position the seat base so there’s a small gap between the front of the bolts and the front of the base. Use a 13-millimeter socket and a 12-millimeter wrench to fully tighten each bolt. Make sure everything is secure to prevent any movement.
Now it’s time to install the quarter turn clips. Take the clips and fasteners, ensuring the flat side faces inward towards the rack. Slide them into place on both sides. The clip should sit snugly. Push the fastener through the hole while pressing the clip, ensuring it bites and secures properly. Repeat this for all fasteners to ensure the rack is securely attached.
There are two configurations for this rack: one-sided or coupled to both sides. Here, we’re showing the one-sided setup. Line the side panel with the rack, ensuring it’s properly aligned. Twist the fasteners until they lock into place. Ensure the plastic washers go all the way up to the head of the fastener. Push the fastener through while pressing on the clip simultaneously until it bites and turns in securely.
Next, assemble the other side of the rack. Ensure it is oriented opposite to the first side. Lay out the components and hardware on the table to ensure everything is set up correctly. Follow the same steps as before, aligning the components and securing them with the provided hardware. Make sure the bases are set up correctly and everything is oriented properly before final tightening.
With both sides of the rack assembled, it’s time to install the cargo rack into the vehicle. Ensure the rack sits just like the factory seat does. Align the tabs and slots and secure the rack in place. Repeat the process for the other side, ensuring both sides are securely installed. Check the alignment and fit, making any necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect installation.
To couple the racks together, remove the panels and fasteners from both sides. Take the center section and secure it to both sides of the rack, aligning the holes and installing the fasteners. Tighten everything securely to ensure the racks are coupled together properly. This setup provides maximum storage capacity, perfect for long trail rides and carrying extra gear.
Now you have plenty of room in the back seat of your RZR four-seater to store whatever you may take with you on the trail. Be sure to check the description below to pick yours up today. While you’re there, drop a like, comment, and subscribe. Thanks for watching, and we’ll catch you on the next one.
