What’s up guys, today we’re going to be installing Super ATV’s spare tire carrier on this Can-Am Commander. So let’s get right to it!

Rear Cage Bolt Removal [0:29]

Locate and Remove the Bolt: The first thing we’re going to do is come to the rear of the machine where the cage bolts onto the frame. You’ll find one 15-millimeter bolt here. Use a wrench to remove this bolt completely.

Prepare for Bracket Installation: Once you’ve removed this bolt, set it aside. We will replace it with new hardware in the next step.

Bracket Installation [0:44]

Insert New Bolt: Grab the only 10-millimeter bolt in your hardware kit. Insert it through the factory hole where you removed the 15-millimeter bolt.

Attach the Bracket: Position the bracket with the notch aligning with the factory tab on the cage. Slide the bracket onto the bolt. Secure the bracket with the provided 10-millimeter nylock nut.

Snug the Nut: Using an impact wrench, snug the nut just enough to hold the bracket in place. Do not fully tighten it yet, as adjustments will be needed later.

Snugging the Bracket [1:53]

Ensure Proper Fit: Check that the bracket fits snugly around the tab and can rotate slightly. This flexibility will be useful when aligning the spare tire carrier later.

Repeat on Driver’s Side: Now, move to the driver’s side of the machine and repeat the same steps: remove the 15-millimeter bolt, insert the new 10-millimeter bolt, attach the bracket, and snug the nut.

Roof Bolt Removal [2:35]

Locate Roof Bolts: Identify the bolts going through the roof into the cage on both sides. These bolts secure the roof to the frame.

Remove Roof Bolts: Use the appropriate tools to remove these bolts completely. Set the bolts aside; they will be replaced with new hardware during the installation of the spare tire carrier.

Right Side Tube Installation [2:53]

Prepare Hardware: Grab the right-side tube, an M8 by 45-millimeter bolt, and an M8 nylock nut from the hardware kit.

Install Right Side Tube: Line up the right-side tube with the hole where the factory hardware was removed from the roof. Insert the bolt through the tube and into the hole. Go inside the machine and start the nut on the bolt.

Snug the Bolt: Using a 13-millimeter wrench, snug the bolt just enough to hold the tube in place. Ensure it is tight enough to stay in position but still allows for some movement for final adjustments.

Left Side Tube Installation [3:45]

Repeat Process on Left Side: Repeat the same steps for the left side tube installation. Line up the tube, insert the bolt, start the nut, and snug the bolt.

Spare Tire Carrier Installation [4:15]

Position the Carrier: Grab the spare tire carrier and position it onto the brackets that were previously installed. Make sure it aligns properly with the brackets and the frame of the machine.

Bolting the Carrier [4:31]

Insert Bolts: Grab the 10-millimeter headed M8 bolts from the hardware kit. Insert these bolts through the holes on the bracket and the spare tire carrier. Secure them with nylock nuts on the inside.

Tighten the Bolts: Use an impact wrench to fully tighten the nuts. Ensure that the spare tire carrier is securely fastened to the brackets.

Clamping the Spare Tire Carrier [5:48]

Prepare Clamps: Take the clamps out of the hardware kit. Lift the spare tire carrier and line up the tube with the clamps.

Attach Clamps: Start the hardware on the clamps, securing them to the tube. Snug the hardware just enough to hold the carrier in place.

Repeating Clamping on Opposite Side [6:50]

Repeat Process on Opposite Side: Before fully tightening anything, repeat the clamping process on the opposite side of the spare tire carrier. Ensure the carrier is aligned properly on both sides.

Fully Tighten Clamps and Hardware: Once both sides are clamped, go through and fully tighten all the hardware. Ensure that the spare tire carrier is securely fastened and stable. With all clamps and brackets in place, use the impact wrench and appropriate tools to fully tighten all hardware. Double-check that all bolts and nuts are securely fastened.

Final Steps [8:41]

Install Spare Tire: In the hardware kit, you will find lug nuts for mounting your spare tire onto the carrier. Install the spare tire and secure it with the provided lug nuts.

Conclusion: Once you’ve done that, that’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s spare tire carrier on this Can-Am Commander 1000.
