What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV. Today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s tender springs on this Kawasaki KRX1000. So, let’s get right to it.

Benefits of Tender Springs [0:28]

So, you may ask, why would you want to install a set of Super ATV tender springs on your KRX? Well, there are multiple reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that the factory tender springs have collapsed.

This is the Super ATV front tender spring here. As you can see from top to bottom, it’s about this height. After many miles of trail riding, whatever kind of riding you like to do, this tender spring may only be this size here, so half of that, maybe even less, where it’s been compressed down over time. That’s one reason why you may want to change your tender springs. Another reason is to gain some ride height and improve ride quality overall.

Preparing for Installation [1:30]

We have the fronts and the rears in the kit. They’re labeled with a part number, and we’ll tell you exactly where these go and how to install them. We’re going to jump over here to the machine and do a brief walkthrough of what you need to do to get Super ATV’s tenders installed on your machine.

Removing Wheels and Tires and Identifying Collapsed Springs [1:40]

So, if you’re looking to install a set of Super ATV tender springs or just check your tender springs and see if they’re beat down or if it’s time for an upgrade, the first thing you’re going to do is lift your machine up in the air and remove your wheel and tire.

You’re going to look at your spring. If it was not equipped with Super ATV tender springs and the springs were fully collapsed, each of these coils on the spring would be touching each other, all sandwiched down to about this height here.

Disconnecting Wiring Harness [2:01]

This machine is equipped with the Fox Live Valve shocks, so there is a wiring harness you’ll have to disconnect. It’s simple, just push up on the tab, pull the plug out, and slide it back out of the way.

Removing Shock Bolts [2:19]

If it’s a Walker Evans machine or another Fox machine without the live valve shocks, you’ll remove your lower shock bolt and then the upper shock bolt. The upper shock bolt is easier to access through the hood, so lower the machine, remove the hood, and convert the hardware.

Using a Spring Compressor [2:46]

To change the tender spring itself, you’ll need a spring compressor. We use a bench-mounted spring compressor here, but you can rent one from a local parts store. If you’ve never used one before, I highly recommend taking the shocks to a professional shop.

Compressing the Coil [3:03]

Compress the coil, then remove the retainer off the bottom of the shock. Once removed, take off the primary spring, crossover, and tender spring. Ensure you orient everything the same way for reinstallation.

Installing New Tender Springs and Double-Checking Installation [3:25]

Install the Super ATV tender spring, crossover, and primary spring. Compress the spring back down and install the retainer. Bolt the shock back up on the machine.

Once everything is reinstalled, double-check your hardware to ensure its fully tightened. Measure from the top of the shock to the top of the adjustment nut on both sides to set the preload evenly.

Identifying Tender Springs [4:19]

Super ATV tender springs have two different part numbers: TSO13 for the front and TSO14 for the rear on this KRX. Ensure you have the correct springs for each side.

Conclusion [5:04]

Once you’ve done all that and made your adjustments, that’s all there is to it to install Super ATV tender springs. Everything we’ve talked about for the front applies to the rear.
