Braden here with SuperATV, today we’re showing you how to install a tinted roof on a Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT. Let’s get started!
The first step is to apply the foam from the kit around the cage. Start at the edge of the windshield, running it all the way back. For cab enclosures, notch around the clamp and run the foam to the top of the tube before it bends down. Apply foam to the center section and the other side, matching the passenger side. At the front, run foam to where the cage bolts together. Cut and notch foam as needed to fit around clamps and bends. Ensuring proper foam application is crucial for reducing vibrations and providing a snug fit for the roof.
Center the foam by the grab handle, notch the foam, and install the center clamp. Disassemble the clamp by removing the hardware. Apply the seal inside the clamp, ensuring it starts and ends below the bolt hole. Assemble the clamp with the bolt hole facing the rear. Install the upper portion of the clamp, ensuring the foam is properly placed, and loosely fasten the hardware. This allows for adjustments when the roof is mounted. Proper clamp installation ensures the roof is securely attached to the cage.
Install the clamp on the center bar similarly to the front clamp. Apply the foam, ensuring it doesn’t cover the bolt hole. Disassemble the clamp, apply the seal, and reassemble it around the center bar. Loosely fasten the hardware to allow for adjustments during the roof installation. Ensuring the clamps are correctly positioned and secured is essential for maintaining the roof’s stability and alignment.
Prepare the rear section of the roof by laying it on the cage to confirm fitment. Remove the protective film. Install the upper hinge bracket on the roof section using M6 by 30mm Allens and Nylock nuts. Attach the rear hinge bracket with the opening facing the back of the roof. Secure with Allens in the designated holes. This step ensures that the hinges are correctly aligned for attaching the front roof section.
Install the three hinges using recessed Allens and Nylock nuts. Align the hinges with the paired holes and fully tighten the hardware. Ensuring the hinges are securely fastened is crucial for the roof sections to operate smoothly and maintain alignment.
Install the side brackets using M6 by 30mm hardware with a sealing washer. Ensure the shorter section faces the rear. Snug up the hardware but do not fully tighten. Properly installed side brackets provide additional support and stability to the roof structure.
Elevate the front and rear roof sections for coupling. Remove the protective film. Install the upper and lower hinge mounts. Align and couple the front section to the rear using the same hardware and locations. Fully tighten all hardware. Coupling the front and rear sections correctly ensures a unified and stable roof structure.
Flip the rear portion of the roof and apply the bulb seal along the bracket. Run it to the designated point and cut off the excess. The bulb seal provides a weather-tight seal, preventing water and debris from entering the cab.
With assistance, lift and install the roof on the machine. Align the holes and install spacers and M6 by 30mm hardware with sealing washers and Nylock nuts. Secure the front and rear sections. Ensuring the roof is properly aligned and secured is crucial for a stable and functional installation.
Install the largest Allen-headed screws and sealing washers into the pre-installed clamps on the cage. Secure and tighten the hardware. This step ensures that the roof is firmly attached to the cage, providing maximum stability.
Slide the strap through the rear bracket on the roof with the velcro side facing up. Secure the strap by sliding it between the cage and attaching it to itself. Tuck the excess strap into the corner. Proper strap installation helps in securing the roof firmly to the cage.
Fully tighten all hardware and adjust the roof as needed. Ensure everything is secure. Checking all connections and tightness ensures the roof is safely and properly installed, ready for use.
