What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV, and today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s aluminum door skins on this Kawasaki KRX 1000. So, let’s get right to it.
Now we’re going to go ahead and remove the handle here. What you’re going to do is take your Phillips screwdriver and remove the screws on the back side. Once the hardware is removed, we’ll grab our handle and set it aside. Then we’ll take this outer skin and set it away.
Now, we’ll grab our door handle and assembly, and install it right to our new door skin. What I like to do is flip the door over and lay it off the table a little bit, so I can line up the handle with the assembly. Once everything is lined up, we’re going to grab one of our M8 washers out of the kit and the stock hardware. We’ll get the hardware started on both sides and then fully tighten the hardware.
Now we’re going to grab our foam and apply it all the way down through here, cutting it off at this point. We’ll also run a small piece right here in this section. Next, we’ll run a piece along the bottom here up to this point, and you can either rip it or cut it. Continue following the line, and once you reach the end, cut off the excess foam.
Remove the Allen-headed screws from the top of the door skin. Grab the flat seal from the kit and start applying it from the edge, running it all the way down. Once you reach the end, cut off the excess or trim around as needed. This will help the seal fit snugly around the door skin.
Before installing the door skin, I recommend getting a couple of push pins handy. Reconnect the cable before attaching the door to the machine. Open the door and remove the outer door skin by taking out the 4 push pins on the back side and the screws on the front face of the door. Split the door apart, remove the cable, remove bolts, and set the old skin aside. Reattach the cable to the interior door handle and start sliding the new door skin into position.
Pop a push pin in the upper hole to hold the skin in place while you align everything. Continue working down the skin, securing it with push pins. Adjust the skin until the holes line up and start installing the hardware. Fully tighten the hardware once everything is lined up.
Take the upper cover that you previously removed and install it, ensuring it fits underneath the door skin and over the factory plastic inner door. Push down until the hardware lines up, then reinstall the hardware.
Install all the factory hardware on the inside of the door skin except for the spots with threaded hex. In these locations, use the four-millimeter Allen head with a black flat washer, threading directly through the inner door skin to the outer door skin.
Repeat all these steps for the opposite side, ensuring all hardware is fully tightened. That’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s aluminum door skin on this Kawasaki KRX 1000.
