What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV, and today I’m going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s outfitter roof rack on this Can-Am Defender. So, let’s get right to it!
So here we have our Outfitter roof rack laid out. This roof rack’s already been installed on the machine, so it’s already assembled, but we wanted to go over some key features and a couple of quick tips on the installation for this.
The first thing we’re going to talk about, and highlight is our T-slot slats. As you can see across the top here, we have all of these T-slot slots. There are two different mounting positions – the upper set of holes at the top and the lower set. If you want to have your cargo sitting below the sides of the outfitter roof rack, you can drop it down to the lower position. If you have an outfitter bed rack, you can line these up perfectly.
The next thing we’re going to talk about is the end caps. You have a front cap and a rear cap here. These can easily be removed if you want to haul lumber, a kayak, or anything longer than the roof rack itself. It can be done in a matter of a minute or two.
Another thing is the mounting brackets. These install very easily on the sides of the roof rack. You’re going to have a grab bar to pull yourself up and get any cargo that you may have up there.
Once you lay your roof up on your machine, you’ll drill holes down through your roof, whether you have a Super ATV roof or an OE roof. Leave the brackets loose to adjust them up and down, ensuring all mounting positions are at the same angle.
We have our Cube light locations here. These roof racks are ready to go for Cube lights. You can mount light bars, and there are multiple tie-down points for straps.
This T-slot is set up for any kind of T-slot attachment. The T-slot has endless options. You can get all kinds of attachments from various places. This is how you would mount your slot in the lower position. If you want to go to the upper position, slide it right up here and put your hardware in. You can also do a staggered setup for storage.
Here we have a kayak mount that utilizes a T-slot mounting system. Just line up the T-slot and tighten your hardware. Now your kayak mount is in here, fastened down, and ready to go.
Now we’re going to take our roof rack and install it on our machine. It’s a good idea to have someone help you. You’ll need to drill holes down through your roof to mount it.
Center up the roof rack, mark your holes, drill them, and then take your hardware, which includes a small Allen-headed screw with a 10 mm nut and a clamp. This clamp will lip into the channel on the cage. Drop your hardware through the bracket, through the roof, and onto the mounting bracket. Get all your hardware started before fully tightening, including the brackets on the roof rack.
Now we’re going to go through and fully tighten all the hardware. Alright guys, once you have all your hardware fully tightened and your roof rack is set up exactly how you want it, that’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s outfitter roof rack on this Can-Am Defender.
