[0:00] Are you tired of having mud, rocks, dirt, and debris slung up in the cab of your Defender? Today we’re going to show you how to install SuperATV’s Fender Flares. Let’s jump right in.
The first thing we’ll do is go on either side and locate the dimples that go all the way up, around where the fender flare will go. We’ve already had fender flares installed on this machine so our dimples aren’t present, but you can guide yourself off of each of our locations where we had screws. That’s exactly where the dimples are gonna be.
The easiest way to do it is to find a center dimple, maybe on the front side and then down here at the bottom. And then you can take your fender flare and make sure everything lines up right.
It’s okay to use an impact or screw gun, anything like that, but to tighten them we highly recommend that you use a ratchet because you are just tightening into plastic, so you’ll strip it out if you’re not careful.
[1:06] Just line it up to get your screw started and then, like I said, tighten it. Make sure to use a ratchet. We’re just gonna run all our screws in here.
Go through and fully tighten them.
The next thing we’ll do is come back here to the bed of the machine. There’s going to be this Allen-headed screw going up through the bed. Loosen it enough so whenever we install our fender flare, it’ll slip on the threads.
[1:43] Once you have that loosened up, go ahead and do the same thing we did before. We’ll look at all of our dimples and use our screw as a guide. Get it laid up here.
Like I said, be careful when you’re installing this. You don’t want to pull the threads out or strip the hole out. You’re just tightening into plastic.
[2:23] We’re going to make sure our hardware is tightened for this side and then repeat all these steps for the opposite side.
And there you have it. That’s how super quick and easy it is to install SuperATV’s Fender Flares on this Can-Am Defender. I broke two of the screws on the right front… (trying to SQUEEZE between two trees…)
So… I did get through and the flare is still in nice shape and fender. but no screws… what do you guys suggest as a replacement for the missing screws.
Hey Todd, sorry to hear about that. Our fender flares don’t come with screws, so you’ll have to replace them with OEM screws. Thanks for watching!
Are these fender flares wider than the factory Can Am fender flare option? If so, by how much? I’m looking for extended coverage for one machine with your portal axles and another with tracks. Thanks!
Hey Ty! Our fender flares are about 2 inches wider than the Defender XMR models. Ours stick out 4″ overall. Check them out here: https://www.superatv.com/can-am-defender-fender-flares Thanks for checking in!
