Hey guys, Tyler here from SuperATV. Let’s talk flip down windshields and how ridiculously easy these windshields are to install quickly in like two minutes. What I love about this windshield, is that it is essentially two windshields in one. It works as a full windshield or you can fold it down and get that nice breeze through the cab on a hot summer day.
They are offered in a scratch-resistant or general polycarbonate material both coming in at an industry leading 1/4″ thickness. Here’s what really sets us apart: the Velcro straps. We are riders, so we know that mud, dirt, and debris are all apart of the trails. And we also know the importance of having a high-quality Velcro strap that isn’t going to deteriorate over time. So we went with an extra-durable, super-grip Velcro. Now for the fun part, let’s show easy it is to install one of these flip down windshields.
[00:49] Once you open the windshield box from SuperATV, there are going to be a few components in the box. First off, there are going to be four Velcro straps, two tie-down points that hold the windshield in the down position when you have it folded down, and two little spacers. Then when you pull the windshield out of the box already partially preassembled. It has the hinge plates already mounted on to the two pieces of windshield.
Then you will still need to install your rubber gaskets. I left these installed already because the machine we are using had it already pre-installed on there. So to speed this video up, those are already on there.
I’m going to go ahead and show you how to install this one. It’s a little bit hard sometimes to put this bottom one on, but it’s simple if you just take your time. So you just start at one end, you get it lined up with the edge nicely. You have to hold your finger in that crack. Make sure that you push that all the way tight onto the bottom of the crack, keeping it tight all the way down through there. So, make sure you push into those corners and have a good seal. It follows the line of the hood and you’re good. It’s that easy. There’s also an optional one that goes along the top.
Next, you’re going to want to grab a t40 Torx bit and remove this bolt. Grab one of the black brackets provided, along with the spacer. Bolt through the bracket with the spacer on the backside and reinstall your bolt. And after we have the tie-down brackets installed go ahead and grab your four Velcro straps, and place them on the hood out of the way.
[02:47] Grab the windshield and place it up on the machine. You just want to make it where the lower portion of the windshield is right at the bottom where your cage mounts to the frame. Grab your Velcro straps and secure the bottom first. It’s that simple. That’s how you install a flip down windshield on a Polaris RZR.
Now that we have it installed and you want to go from a full to flipping it down, you are just going to take your top straps off and lay your windshield down. Use these brackets that are mounted on the front. Now your windshield is secure in the down position.
