Are you looking for more protection on the front of your Can-Am Maverick Sport or Trail? Well SuperATV’s got you covered with our Heavy-Duty Front Bumper and today we’re going to show you how to get it installed.
For the first step, we’re gonna grab four of our drill guide ones, our drill guide two, and four of our small bolts. We’re also gonna need a tape measure. Take one of the bolts and slide it through. Then take our drill guides and let the threads of the bolt come through it both on the backside of the plate. Get the nut started. We’ll do the same thing to this side.
We’ll take our drill guide and get it laid up onto the frame here. You can do this by yourself. It is easier if you have somebody to help you, just because there’s a lot of moving parts here. Get this lined up on the frame and take your bolt, stick it through, and get your nut started. Just loosely start everything at this point. Then hand tighten everything so it’s stays somewhat in place.
[02:04] Once you have everything in place, you want to take a measurement from here to the top of here. It should be between 5-7 inches depending on where you want to place your bumper. We’re right at 6″, so we’re right in the center. We’re gonna make sure that our bracket here is straight. Then we’ll go through and tighten our hardware up.
As you can see, we’ve already drilled our holes. This machine previously had a bumper on it, but let’s take our bumper and line it up. Just slide it right into position and take a look at it. Just make sure it’s in the location you want it. Like I said, anywhere between that 5-7″ range. You can get it up a little bit higher or a little bit lower. This one right here set up exactly for what we want it.
[03:10] If you have yours exactly where you want it, get a paint marker. You’re just gonna reach through these holes here and mark the center of each. Our holes are already drilled so we can look and make sure our holes are lined up good, which they are. So now we’re gonna show you what you need to do to drill your holes out. At this point, you should have all of your holes marked. Grab our drill guides and pretend like this hole right here is marked like it would be on your machine. Line the center of that hole up with the drill guide.
Once we have it started, we’ll tighten them up here and then repeat all these same steps for the rest of your holes. Once all your guides are in place, get a drill bit big enough for an 8 mm bolt. Slide it through the hole and drill the hole straight through. Once you have all of your holes drilled, remove all of our drill guides except for this one right here. We’ll leave this one alone.
[04:32] For the next step, we’re gonna grab our bumper, two of our m8 bolts, two curved washers, and two of our nylock nuts. We left our drill guide on here so we can just take our bumper and set it here. It’s gonna help us hold everything in place. It makes it so much easier.
We’ll start down here on the bottom. Slide the bolt through and get our curved washer into position. Put a curved washer on the back side. Once we get our bolt through, then we’ll go ahead and start our nut. Then we’ll just repeat these same steps for the rest of her holes. Now remove your drill guide. Then go through and fully tighten your hardware.
