[00:01] What’s up, guys? Today we’re going to be showing you how to install our SuperATV’s Honda Pioneer 1000-5 Nerf Bars.

Remove the Skid Plate

[00:30] The first thing you’re going to do if you have a SuperATV skid plate or a factory skid plate is drop it down out of the way. In our case, to make it easier to show you all what we’re doing here, we went ahead and removed the skid plate.

Align the Drill Guide

So with the skid plate removed, you’re going to notice this screw right here, a bracket in the kit. As you can tell by our frame, it has already had the nerf bars installed previously. But we’re going to show you all the steps you need to do whenever you go to install them on your machine.

So this screw right here is a 3/16th allen. Go ahead and remove it. We’re going to take our drill guide (this bracket here), the small 10 mm-headed bolt from the kit, our bracket, and the small hardware that we previously showed you and get it squared up on the frame. Obviously, it will be able to move, so you’ll want to make sure that it’s centered up with the tube.

And then once it’s good and centered with the tube, take a socket (I’m going to hand tighten it for just a second to hold it in place) and then just kind of push it up against the tube. You’ll want to make sure that’s going to line up correctly. Go ahead and snug it down. So then, when we push this bracket up, you can see that it’s lined up perfectly with the tube.

Drill Frame Holes

[02:14] Next, we’re going to drill through our bracket here to the frame. You’ll want to make sure that the drill bit you’re using is at least a 10 mm. I recommend a 10.5 mm, so the bolt goes through a little bit easier. We’ll push this up against the frame. As I’ve said before, our holes have already been drilled. So you’re just going to do the same process we’re doing here, except yours will not be drilled.

Install Small Hardware

[02:50] All right, so after you have your holes drilled, you’ll go ahead and remove your bracket. We’ll sit it out of the way—we’re not going to need it until we go to the opposite side.

Next, we’re going to grab four curved washers as well as two M-10 bolts out of our hardware kit. And you want to make sure the curved washers are up against the frame when you install the nerf bar—on the inside and the outside. We’re going to make sure that we install the curved washer onto the bolt head so that the curved portion will go up against the frame. You will go to the inside of the tube and slide the hardware directly through the hole that you just drilled. I like to start with one—it makes it easier.

Mount Nerf Bars

[03:48] So we’ll get this one started first, take your nerf bar, and hold it up into the position. While you’re holding the nerf bar into position, make sure you get your hardware good and started. Now we’re going to repeat the same step for this side over here. Remember, the curved portion goes up against the inside of the frame and slides straight through. Put your other curved washer on. And then you’re going to slide the nerf bar up. So we’ve got our hardware started there now as well. Now we’ll go through and fully tighten our nerf bar hardware.

Apply End Caps

[04:37] Now we’ll take our caps for the end of the tube. You can see it comes with the 10 mm allen headed bolt. It goes on there just like that. So we’ll thread it right into the end of the tube. We’ll get it started, and we’ll go ahead and fully tighten it. I like to make sure that my SuperATV is sitting pretty much straight up. It doesn’t matter, though—you can put it on whichever way you like.

[05:12] Now we’re just going to repeat the same steps on the opposite side of the tube. Once you have all your hardware tightened up on this side and you’ve reinstalled your factory allen headed screw, you’re going to repeat all the same steps for the opposite side.

That’s all there is to installing SuperATV’s heavy-duty nerf bars on this Honda Pioneer 1000-5.
