What’s up, guys? Braden here with Super ATV. Today, we’re going to show you how to install Super ATV’s heavy-duty nerf bars on this Polaris Razer Pro R4. Let’s get right to it.
Before starting the installation, gather all necessary tools. You will need a T40 Torx, a T25 Torx, and a burbit. Additionally, make sure you have all parts and hardware included in the nerf bar kit. Having all your tools and parts ready will streamline the installation process and help avoid any interruptions.
The first step is to remove enough of the skid plate hardware to gain access to the back side of the frame. This will allow you to install the hardware for the nerf bars. Use the T40 Torx to remove the bolts securing the skid plate. After removing the hardware, pull the front of the skid plate down. To keep it out of the way while you work, use an object to hold it down securely.
Grab the front section of the nerf bar along with a spacer and a bolt from the hardware kit. Slide the spacer onto the bolt, then thread it into the rear-most threaded tube on the front portion of the nerf bar. For the forward-most mounting hole, you may need to remove some material from the floorboard to allow the head of the bolt to pass through. Use the burbit to carefully remove just enough material to accommodate the bolt. Once the bolt can slide all the way into the tube, install the spacer.
Take the front section of the nerf bar and align it with the frame. Start the hardware through the frame, ensuring that it goes through the pre-drilled holes. Leave all hardware hand-tight at this stage to allow for adjustments later.
Slide a bolt with a washer into the hole and through the frame, then attach a spacer onto the bolt. Align the rear section of the nerf bar and start the hardware, but do not fully tighten it yet. This ensures that you can make any necessary adjustments before securing everything in place.
To install the rear-most hardware, you need to remove the rear seat. Move the harnesses out of the way and reach behind the headrest to locate the lever. Squeeze the lever and pull the seat forward to release it. Remove the seat from the machine. Next, remove the pushpins holding the felt panel in place, and set the panel aside.
With the panel removed, find the filler neck on the passenger side. Directly below the filler neck, locate the hole in the frame. Thread a bolt with a washer and spacer through this hole and align it with the nerf bar. Ensure the hardware is properly positioned before proceeding.
Couple the front section of the nerf bar to the rear section using the tube clamps provided in the kit. First, separate the clamps and slide them onto the nerf bar. Align the clamps with the pre-drilled holes and start the hardware by hand. Ensure all bolts are properly aligned before tightening. Tighten the clamp hardware in an X pattern to ensure even pressure and a secure fit. This involves alternating between bolts to evenly distribute the tension.
Take the bracket and position it on top of the frame tube. Slide the bracket against the head of the bolt, ensuring it sits correctly. This bracket will help secure the nerf bar to the frame, providing additional stability.
Go through and fully tighten all the hardware, including the bolts securing the bracket and the clamp hardware. Ensure everything is securely fastened to avoid any loosening during use.
Reinstall the felt panel by aligning the pushpins with the holes and securing them in place. Slide the upper portion of the rear seat back into position, making sure the harnesses are out of the way. Lock the seat back into place, ensuring it is securely fastened.
Repeat the same steps on the opposite side of the vehicle to install the other nerf bar. This ensures both sides are equally protected and stable. Once you’ve fully tightened all the hardware on both sides, that’s all there is to it for installing Super ATV’s heavy-duty nerf bars on this Polaris Razer Pro R4.
