The words "Polaris RZR Trail S 1000 Heavy-Duty Tube Rock Sliders" appears and disappears off the screen.
Whether you call ’em nerf bars or tree kickers, ours are easy to install.

Hello, everyone! Today we’re going to show you how easy it is to install SuperATV’s Heavy-Duty Tube Rock Sliders on a Polaris RZR Trail S 1000 in just two (long) steps! Let’s get started.

A list of all the tools needed to do this install superimposed over an image of a toolbox.
Make sure you get all your tools ready before you start.

The first thing you’ll do is locate your drill. You want to equip a drill bit that’s at least 10.5 mm. We will use hardware that’s at least 10mm, so we have to have space to install it. I’m using an 11 mm drill bit.

A hand squeezes a tube of red gel onto the tip of a drill bit.
A little goes a long way with this stuff, so don’t overdo it.

1) Prep for Install

Apply a little cutting oil on the drill bit. Then you’ll drill directly through the hole. It’s important to keep the drill bit level the entire time. It’s also important to keep the drill bit cool, so don’t be afraid to add more cutting oil for lubrication.

A drill makes a small hole in the frame of the UTV.
Start slow so you know you’re drilling straight through.

Once you’ve drilled the hole through, check that the bolt will fit. Slide it through the back of the hole to check for size and angle. Our bolt slides through straight, so this hole is done.

Braden slides a bolt through the back of the hole we just saw drilled in the last image. He's still holding the drill in one hand.
Make sure you check the quality of your work before you move on to the next step.

Now you’re ready to start drilling the next hole. You’ll use the same process as the first time. Once you’ve drilled the hole, do the same checks as before. Make sure the bolt goes through the hole straight. Ours is good to go.

The drill makes a hole through a different part of the UTV's frame near the fuel tank.
Again, make sure you’re drilling straight through.

Before you can install the nerf bar, you have to remove the T40 Torx hardware next to the spots where you just drilled. There should be 3, but it’s not unusual if your machine has lost one. They can fall out after the machine has been on the road. We will use these again, so set them aside.

Braden removes an OEM Torx screw.
Set the T40 hardware aside for future use.

2) Install the Nerf Bars

You’ll take two bolts, two washers, and two lock washers. Slide a lock washer onto both bolts, followed by a standard washer.

Braden slides a washer along a long bolt.
Lock washer, flat washer, install.

Once you’ve done that, slide the bolts through the holes you just drilled. You don’t want to insert them all the way through. Just get the end of the bolt to the end of the hole and let them hang.

You can see a bolt right at the edge of a hole in the frame.
Don’t push them all the way through so you don’t knock them out with the nerf bar in a second.

Now we’ll install the nerf bar. Pick it up and align it with the holes you drilled. Use one hand to guide the bolt into the nerf bar and finger tighten it. Once you’ve done that, do the same thing with the other bolt at the rear.

Braden finger-tightens a bolt under the body of the UTV.
It could help to have a friend for this step, but it’s doable solo.

Once you’ve got both bolts started, you’ll need a wrench to tighten them completely.

Braden slides a wrench into a tight spot to tighten a bolt.
A ratchet speeds this up immensely.

After you’ve tightened both the front and rear bolts, you’ll reinstall the T40 hardware you removed earlier. We removed them so that the plastic would have room to flex as we installed the nerf bar. Once the nerf bar is installed, you’re good to put them back in place.

You can see that the nerf bars are almost completely installed on the Polaris RZR Trail S.
Reinstall the T40 hardware to hold the plastic in place.

Once you’ve completed one nerf bar, you’ll repeat the same steps on the opposite side of the machine to install the other one.

That’s all there is to installing SuperATV’s Nerf Bars on the Polaris RZR Trail S 1000. Make sure you check out our other awesome Trail S 1000 accessories. We’ll see you on the trail!

The SuperATV logo flashes and glitches in a stylized way over the fully installed Heavy-Duty Tube Rock Sliders on the Polaris RZR Trail S 1000.
That wasn’t so bad, was it?
