Introduction (0:00)

Are you looking for a little more suspension travel on your Can-Am Maverick R without giving up stability? SuperATV has the solution with our sway bar shock. In this video, we’ll show you exactly how to install it.

Welcome back to Grease the Wheels! I’m Braden Adams, and this is my garage. Today, we’re going to install SuperATV’s sway bar shock on a Can-Am Maverick R. Let’s take a look at the tools you’ll need so we can get started.

Removing the Factory Sway Bar Link (0:52)

To begin the installation, you’ll need to remove the factory sway bar link. First, remove the nut from the upper portion of the link. You can perform this step with the tire still on, but removing it makes access easier.

Next, grab an 18 mm socket and use a couple of extensions—use a 6-inch extension if the tire is off, or two 3-inch extensions if the tire is still on. Insert the extension into the trailing arm and access the bolt head from the inside using the same size socket.

After removing the hardware and pulling the bolt out, take out the factory sway bar link. To remove the captured nut from the trailing arm, reinsert the bolt and give it a gentle tap. This will knock the nut free so you can grab it with ease.

Installing the SuperATV Sway Bar Shock (1:54)

Now that the factory link is out, you’re ready to install the new sway bar shock. Start by attaching the Heim joint side of the shock to the sway bar. Cut your bushings as needed, then slide the bolt through the bushings and the sway bar.

Once the bolt is in place, secure it with the provided nut on the back. Repeat this process on the bottom side, installing the second set of bushings and hardware into the trailing arm. Use your 18 mm socket to tighten all the hardware completely, both on the top and bottom.

Should I Install a Sway Bar Shock on Both Sides? (2:40)

A common question we receive is whether you need to install sway bar shocks on both sides. The answer is no. SuperATV sway bar shock kits include one shock, and they are designed to be used with the factory link still in place on the opposite side.

You could also install an adjustable link on the other side if preferred. Although installing shocks on both sides is possible, it is not the intended design for this upgrade.

Making Adjustments to the Shock (3:02)

If you need to make any adjustments to the sway bar shock, you can do so easily. Just loosen the jam nut on the Heim joint and adjust the length as needed. All shocks are pre-adjusted from the factory, so additional tuning is optional, but the capability is there if necessary.

Conclusion (3:21)

That’s all it takes to install a SuperATV sway bar shock on your Can-Am Maverick R. Be sure to check the description below to pick one up for yourself.
