What’s up guys? Today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s tree kicker style nerf bars on this Can-Am Maverick X3. Let’s get to it!

Preparing the Machine (0:30)

The first step in the installation process is to prepare your machine. Begin by entering the machine and flipping your seat cushion up. In this example, the seat cushion is torn and removes completely, but normally you would just need to lift it. You’ll see that there are two holes, one here and another here. Adjust your seat until you can gain access to the 18mm bolts or nuts located inside these holes.

Removing Hardware (1:10)

With the seat adjusted to give you access, use an 18mm socket to remove the hardware. You’ll be taking out the bolts securing the seat belt to the seat. This will require a 16mm socket to loosen the bolt.

Removing the Seat and Drilling the Side Panel (1:37)

Once the hardware is loosened, remove the bolt completely. Next, grab the seat belt and pull it through the seat to set it aside. With the seat belt out of the way, you can now remove the seat from the machine.

In this step, you’ll be drilling through the side panel. Your side panel should have factory indentions to guide you. If not, locate the indentions as shown in the provided picture. Using a 1 ¾ inch hole saw, place the drill bit in the center of the indention and drill through the plastic. This step prepares the side panel for the installation of the nerf bars.

Preparing to Install the Nerf Bar (2:19)

Now, grab your curved washers and M10 bolts. You will use a curved washer on each side of the factory tube. This means placing the curved washer on one side of the bolt, sliding the bolt through the first curved washer, the frame tube, and the second curved washer before threading it into the Nerf Bar.

Installing the Nerf Bar (2:55)

Position the Nerf Bar so it lines up with the drilled holes. Thread the hardware into the Nerf block but do not fully tighten it yet. This allows for adjustment later. Repeat the same process for the other side of the tube, ensuring the curved washer is correctly placed and the bolt is threaded through.

Securing the Front Section (4:02)

For the front portion of the Nerf Bar, locate the hole in the factory skid plate. Slide your bolt through the tube with the curved washer, then reach inside the skid plate and place another curved washer on the threads. Pull the Nerf Bar back slightly to position the curved washer and bolt, then thread it into place. Move to the rear and fasten the rest of the Nerf Bar to the tube on the machine.

Installing the Rear Bracket (5:10)

Next, grab the right side bracket since you are working on the passenger side. Slide it down until it lines up with the threads on the Nerf Bar. Hand start the 12mm bolt, ensuring it is just started and not fully tightened. Wrap the U-bolts around the frame tube and start the Nylock nuts.

Final Steps (7:00)

Once all the hardware is started, it’s time to fully tighten everything. This includes all the bolts and nuts securing the Nerf Bar to the machine. Ensure that all components are securely fastened and properly aligned. Go through each bolt and nut, tightening them fully to secure the Nerf Bar in place. After fully tightening all your hardware, repeat the same steps for the opposite side. That’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s tree kicker style nerf bars on this Can-Am Maverick X3.
