A machine’s vehicle identification number—commonly known as the VIN—is something most of us don’t think about until we need it. And when we need it, we usually can’t locate the dang thing very easily. So we thought we’d put together a brief guide on where the VIN is located on some of the most popular side-by-sides.
But before we get into that, let’s go over what the VIN is used for. It’s basically an identifying code for a unique vehicle, so no two VINs are alike. You might be asked to provide a VIN when selling or insuring a machine, but those aren’t the only times when this number comes in handy. If you need to take advantage of a recall or file a warranty claim, most authorized dealers will ask for a VIN before moving forward. And if your machine happens to get stolen, a VIN can be used to track it down.
Despite being called a vehicle identification number, your VIN is actually a combination of both numbers and letters. And it’s not arbitrary—there’s quite a bit of rhyme and reason behind each unique code. For example, the tenth number or letter indicates the year your machine was manufactured. In case you’re wondering what your particular VIN says, websites like Decode the VIN provide keys for deciphering it all.
So go check it out! If you haven’t done so yet, locate the VIN on your machine(s) and then record it in your owner’s manual or somewhere else that’s easily accessible. That way, the next time you’re asked to provide it, it’s right there at your fingertips.
Choose your machine’s make for a guide on how to locate your VIN:

Hey Scott! That VIN seems to be a little off. If you want to give us a call at 855-743-3427, we should be able to help you out. You may have to send a picture of your machine in, so be sure to have a couple ready.
Where do I find the VIN on a BMS Ranch Pony 500?
Hey Carson, the VIN should be in the same location as the Yamaha models, on the frame behind the driver’s side rear tire. https://www.superatv.com/offroad-atlas/how-to-locate-your-utvs-vin/#yamaha
Thanks for reading!
I have a Carter Matrix sxs any body know where to find the vin number
Hey Frank, I’m guessing you got this figured out some other way by now, but it looks like Carter likes to stick their VINs under the seat on the frame cross member and on a sticker behind the seat too.
I just purchased an Axis 750 crew 4×4 2021. Where can I find the vin? Thanks
Hey Jimmie. It looks like that one should be on the upper frame member in the rear right wheel well. I found it in section 2-1 (page 14) of this service manual for the equivalent Hisun model: https://hisunmotors.com/images/uploads/20161230/hs500-700-utv-owners-manual-50002.pdf
The manual seem a little generic but it should still get you there.
How about the vin location for a 2017 ODES Dominator x4? Thank you
Hey CP. The Dominator VIN should be on the passenger’s side low on the frame below the passenger side door. Or thereabouts. I don’t have a Dominator on hand at the moment to check the exact location in person, but that’s about where it’s supposed to be. Hope that helps!
You can use VIN to get a radio code if you have it in your car. I use this website with my VIN: https://www.hondaradiocodebyvin.com/
Nice! That’s a cool resource for Honda owners. Thanks for sharing, Kyle!
