The Lowdown on SuperATV’s High-Performance Drive Belts

World’s Best Belt

The World’s Best Belt is kind of a showstopper. It’s designed to be the strongest, longest-lasting belt you can get. It uses third generation, high-twist aramid fiber cord which makes it ideal for high-horsepower loads. In fact, it’s able to withstand a shock load from a 400 HP machine without fraying or falling apart.

That’s not its only trick though. The top cog on any drive belt gets squeezed hard between the sheaves on the clutch. The pressure can cause the belt to bow which can lead to slippage (bad) or cord pop-out (worse). With the World’s Best Belt, the top cog has been reinforced to withstand increased pressure so it won’t flex or bow under heavy load.

Let’s not forget about the bottom cog, though. It uses something called a high-modulus rubber compound and has aramid fibers throughout. The compound and the aramid fibers aren’t just there to make things strong (although they are tough)—their main job is to keep everything cool. The compound heats up slower and dissipates heat quicker than any alternative, and the aramid fibers help the belt stick to the sheaves. Better sticking means less friction, and less friction means less heat.

That extra grip also makes for incredibly smooth engagement. Slamming down on the gas has never felt as good as it does with the World’s Best Belt. The name says it all—this belt is for those that like to gear down and go big. It’s designed for monster builds that pull a bunch of weight and put a ton of stress on your drivetrain.

If you put big tires, a gear reduction, and a clutch kit on your machine, you’re gonna start beating the crap out of your clutch belt. It’ll get squeezed tighter and pulled harder than your stock belt was ever designed for.

It uses encapsulated aramid fibers and a precision-ground sidewall angle to make sure it gets maximum sheave contact and superior grip. Contact and grip are key to reducing and eliminating slippage and rubbing which both lead to heat buildup. With this belt, when you slam on the gas, it grips right away.

If you’re looking for a belt that is budget friendly without compromising performance, then our Badass XC X-Country Belt is perfect for you. It’s a great OEM replacement, offering superior heat dissipation and delivering smooth engagement for continued maximum performance. 

This belt is great to store in your machine as a replacement when you blow a belt on the trail. It’s not as expensive as our others, but it allows you to do a quick fix and get back on the trail without compromising the way you like to ride. 

Break-In Procedure for Maximum Performance

These aren’t belts you just throw on before slamming on the gas—they’re precision made and require a break-in period to get every ounce of performance out of them. It takes time for the belt to get to know your clutch and get seated properly. Don’t worry, the break-in procedure is easy.

  1. Wash the belt in warm soapy water and allow it to air dry to remove all residue.
  2. Use a Scotch-Brite pad to scuff the sheaves on both the primary and secondary clutch.
  3. Clean the sheaves with brake or contact cleaner and wipe dry with a clean towel.
  4. Drive your machine in low gear at varying speeds for the first 15 miles. Avoid riding with a wide-open throttle during this time. This will ensure the belt is fully seated.

But Mickey Roberts, a 7-year employee and lab technician here at SuperATV, has spent hundreds of hours testing our belt lineup, ensuring they can withstand every terrain and riding style you can think of.

We asked Mickey several questions about the belts themselves, starting with what separates our World’s Best Belt from other UTV drive belts on the market.

In Mickey’s opinion, “It’s one of the most well-rounded belts out there—it can handle mud, wooded trails, creeks, and utility work easily. If you’re riding around here, you can easily make this belt last just by simply keeping on its maintenance.”

Mickey made a good point—belt maintenance is huge.

“Of course, the lifespan of a belt depends on the rider and the terrain, but it’s fairly easy to preserve a belt just by doing these few things: blow the dust off your belt as often as you clean your machine, wash your belt with dish soap, and use some Scotch Brite to clean your clutch face.”

Mickey explained that dust alone on your belt can cause it to slip. He also said, “If you’re going to be on the trails for several hours, then you need to pack an extra belt.”

And the last tip Mickey left us with was this: “When you’re running in high and don’t cycle your clutch, your belt experiences more wear and tear. Give your belt time to breathe! After a hard ride, let your machine spin or idle so the belt doesn’t consume all the heat off the engine.”

    Put the extreme badass belt on my 2021 Polaris general xp did the break in period and now my buggie isn’t as fast as it was with stock belt is there a reason for that

    We purchased an extreme badass belt for our 2019 Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo S. It has a super ATV 3” lift with 33s on 20” wheels. It also has a new STM clutch – primary and secondary. When the belt was installed it is making a squealing noise that was not there with the stock belt. It also sounds like the secondary is rattling but the bolt is tight. Any suggestions? STM says the belt should work with this clutch.
