There are countless reasons why riders are drawn to off-roading: the thrills, the mud, and the relationships formed are just a few. But one overarching theme that everyone seems to agree on is that we love how off-roading brings us closer to nature. Whether you’re cruising down your favorite trail or climbing a rock shelf at your go-to ride park, quads and side-by-sides allow us to experience the great outdoors in a way that nothing else can.
Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates those trails and ride parks the same way. Even the most beautiful ride spots across the country are at risk of being marred by litterers—a crumpled up can here, a candy wrapper there.
Seeing trash littering your beloved trails is annoying, and it can totally kill the mood if you were hoping for some one-on-one time with nature.
So your friends at SuperATV are attempting to do something about it.
Keeping your favorite ride spot beautiful doesn’t have to be a huge ordeal. We’re not asking you to organize and execute a huge group cleanup event (although we wouldn’t discourage it!). All we’re encouraging is to just get out and ride as usual, and clean up as you go along. The next time you spot some trash on the trail, instead of complaining about it or ignoring it, just pick it up! Easy as that.
Here are some tips to help you out:
Keep a small trash bag or receptacle in your UTV. Not only does this give you somewhere to place your own trash besides on the ground, but you’ll also have somewhere to put the garbage you collect along the way.
If you’ve got some spare first aid kit gloves or even riding gloves, it wouldn’t hurt to throw them on when cleaning up the trails. You never know where that trash has been, so it’s always good to use some extra caution. And don’t forget to slap on some hand sanitizer when you’re done!
This should go without saying, but don’t pick up any potentially hazardous items. If you see broken glass, needles, or something covered in bodily fluids, we obviously don’t want you reaching for that. In the instance you do come across an item that’s unsafe to pick up, be sure to reach out to park security or local law enforcement so it can be disposed of properly.
If you have little ones in your life, lead by example and teach them to clean up their surroundings whenever possible. Consider turning it into a game while you’re out adventuring—who can pick up the most litter from the trail? (This is also a great way to instill some good ol’ “pick up after yourself” values in future generations.)
If you’re doing your part in keeping our riding trails and off-road parks clean, we feel that you should be rewarded. We also think it should be kind of fun. That’s why we’re offering an incentive to make things interesting and hopefully motivate you to keep the great outdoors beautiful.
Throughout the next four months—June, July, August, and September—we want you to document any time you clean up trash on the trail or at the ride park. Doing so will enter you in our #SATVTrailCleanupChallenge contest.
Each month, one lucky participant will be selected to win a free swag bag, which will include a $100 gift certificate to SuperATV.com!
How do you enter, you ask? Easy—just follow these steps:
Once you’ve done that, you’re automatically entered for that month.
You can find SuperATV on social media here:
Winners will be chosen at random on the 30th of each month, from June through September. We’ll announce each month’s winner on all of our social media platforms, so be sure to keep an eye on our feeds!
Now what are you waiting for? Get riding, start cleaning, and don’t forget to post those photos!

We’re glad to have the support, Michael! Thanks for tuning in with us.
Can those without social media’s email the images?
Hey Dylan! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, if you don’t have social media and want to participate, you can send your pictures to tlichlyter@superatv.com. We appreciate the support!
Another Wow scored for Super ATV in my book.
I come across your company about a year ago when the wife and I started setting up our new toy. Seems like there are a million companies out there selling parts and accessories these days, some good some that shouldn’t be allowed to exist.
Your company stands out to me for the excellent customer service and top quality products.
The way you’ve stepped up to improve not just your own local community in many ways but also the SxS/ATV community around the world is inspiring to me. I’ll proudly fly your company logo on our machines.
Keep up the great work and doing all that you don’t have to do.
Hey Curt, we truly appreciate all of the kind words. I’ll be sure to share with our ownership as I’m sure they would love to hear it. Thank you for continuing to support us in this crazy fun off-road life!
Great idea! Hate seeing trash in the woods. I’m in and thanks super atv for the incentive.
We appreciate the support, Chris! Don’t forget to tag us and use the hashtag #SATVTrailCleanupChallenge !
The Hatfield and McCoy Trails need more people to look after them. The Outlaw Trails are way out of hand, but not many people give a damn.
There’s a place near the Wagon Wheel where apparently everyone goes to drink and it would take forever to clean that place up.
We try, but we can only carry so much trash.
I started taking a trash bag with me onto the trails for this exact reason nearly two years ago. It’s such a shame to see people’s garbage just dumped off the side of the trail or at a great spot for lunch. I love that you guys are promoting responsibility out on the trails. It’s a great that there’s a chance to get some extra merch for doing good.
Great products, great company!
Bringing a trash bag along is a great idea for keeping you from losing trash along the way as well as picking up other unfortunate trash on the trail. We agree that it’s a sad sight to see, and are glad that you’re as excited as we are about this! Thanks for the kind words and the support, Derrick!

Hey Troy, I’m sorry you’re experiencing some issues. If you give our customer service team a call at 855-743-3240, we should be able to get you figured out. Thanks for the support!
What a great idea! I will be sure to share this out on the trail.
Thanks, Scott! We definitely appreciate the support!
We always take out what we bring. Common sense I think
You don’t have to do this to get me to clean up. I clean up other people’s garbage and never throw mine down. I can’t stand to see people trashing the trails. They are going to get our trails taken from us. Thanks to everyone who takes part in keeping our trails clean and safe.
Hey James, we’re glad to hear you have such a good habit of cleaning the trails. We’re hoping this will help get everyone thinking about it while they’re out riding. One step at a time!
Thank you James, I feel the same way.
Excellent and do advertise on Honda Talon Forum as well. We all need to keep the locations we ride in free of trash!
Hey George, thanks for reading. We’ll be sure to share in the forum. Stay safe out there!
I’M TIRED OF SEEING ALL THAT CRAP ON THE TRAIL, TRASH (BEER CANS) REALLY TICK ME OFF, I SEE MATTRESSES, TIRES, AND RECENTLY A JUNK TRUCK.
PEOPLE JUST TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU////////////////
YA, I agree it really sucks, why people do this is totally beyond me. I feel like finding out who it was and then emptying a big bag of trash on their front lawn. Remember I call home where you are littering. I think Covid has brought out the worst in people, but still that’s no excuse. Myself and my riding buddies have practiced this for decades, (what you bring in, you bring out, whether it be on snowmobiles or atv’s and SXS.Why people do this is beyond me? They are only ruining it for future and in the short term the landowner might just say enough is enough and close it, which I wouldn’t blame him at all. Everyone has to do their part no matter how little it may seem. Every little bit helps. It’s bad on our Canadian trails too, just shows there’s jerks all over.
Awesome, I’m in
We appreciate the support, Josh!
It time that we all do our part as sometimes there are others that abuse the trail system.
This will help and hopefully give others a reason to pack out what they pack in !!
Thanks for tuning in, Joe! We appreciate the support. One step at a time!
Great idea Super ATV. We ride all over the Mark Twain National Forest and yes some people don’t know how to pick up after themselves. This will keep our National Forrest beautiful . Thanks for the idea.
Hey Michael, it’s definitely a problem everywhere it seems unfortunately. Hoping we can make this the first step to normal practice. Thanks for the support!
You can get a mesh bag (with holes in it) and a draw string—-reusable and waterproof!!
That’s a great idea! Thanks for the support, Darcy!
Perhaps one could be made with the SATV logo. Just an idea
Now you’re talking! Might have to pass this one along. 🙂
We love the outdoors and have practiced leaving it natural, no trash, or signs that nature has been disturbed. Grandkids have helped us remove trash from trails. They are 4 and 8 and also love the outdoors!
That’s awesome to hear, Lonnie! It can definitely be a good family activity – the more, the merrier! Thank you for the support.
We always carry Walmart bags with our group and pickup what we find – Tie it up meat and dispose properly
Great job of bringing this up to all riders- a lot pass trash by on their run
Thanks for the support, Joe! Don’t forget to post a picture, tag us, and use the #SATVTrailCleanupChallenge hashtag for a chance to win $100 gift certificate and more!
We will do our part and keep it clean wherever we go on the trails!!
Love to hear it, Jonathon! Thanks for the support!
I want a four wheeler
We recently had a big ride at Mulberry Mountain State Park and although we don’t have any photos both days we picked up people’s trash along the trails in the gorgeous mountains. It’s sad how disrespectful people can be of our Great Outdoors!! But we were raised in the country and taught to never disrespect our land by trashing it!!
That’s awesome to hear, Melissa! Any small help can make a huge difference. We appreciate the support!
I don’t get to ride alot. Use to have a ranger crew and we would stop for a break and a fresh drink, I would walk around that area and pick up the trash put in the bed and swing by the dumpster to get rid of it. Went awhile with 4 wheelers,no room for the extra trash so I didn’t do anymore. True it sux how people just trash the trails. Now I have a new rzr, so back to cleaning after others, don’t bother me till I see the broken bottles, as we all know, glass containers aren’t allowed in the parks trails, I pick it up as well, damn a flat from somebodys ignorance. Thank you all that pitch in to keeping the woods clean!!!
We appreciate the support, Nick!
SAK-IT.COM sells an awesome bag for this.
Can’t Stand someone to litter on the trail. We don’t go and ride to look at everyone’s trash. I don’t carry a bag but Ill throw it in the floor of my buggy and chunk it in dumpster when we get home. Was riding the other day at a park near me and Found a brand new winch rope laying in middle of trail. Someone broke it and just left it. So I gain some extra rope while cleaning. HAHA.
Thanks SuperATV for supported clean trails.
I have been riding the woods for many years. I recently bought a new SXS and am enjoying getting back into the woods, looking at the trash that people are throwing out into the beautiful woods is terrible. My wife and I have been picking up trash when we can to help keep the trails clean. Maybe we should try the leave it better than you found it campaign. Ride WV!!
