At SuperATV, we’ve held tight to our identity as a family-owned, hometown company since our founding in 2004. After almost two decades in business, we’ve grown quite a bit—from a hobby operation run out of a garage to 5 locations and counting. Now we’re growing again.
In October 2020, SuperATV began a significant expansion at our headquarters on the 2700 block of Michigan Road in Madison, IN. The expansion was completed on February 15th, 2023. We’ve added 125,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse, and office space to the existing facilities.
SuperATV is no stranger to construction or renovation. The building that houses SuperATV’s global headquarters stood empty for 11 years before SuperATV remodeled the facility and moved operations there in 2017.
Chuck Hensler, Director of U.S. operations at SuperATV, had this to say about the expansion, “In 2017, we never imagined we would outgrow this space. To add 125,000 square feet to a 200,000-square-foot building is substantial.”
The expansion will allow for improved efficiency thanks to better layouts and workflows. Several different aspects of manufacturing will all be housed under one roof, including a quality lab, state-of-the-art robotic processing equipment, and paint line. The expansion provides plenty of room to increase production in the future.
It can’t be overlooked that this expansion is happening in SuperATV’s hometown. Building this expansion in Madison shows SuperATV’s confidence in the future and dedication to maintaining a presence in the community.
“Even during a slow economic time, SuperATV is making a big commitment to the business,” said Hensler. “We’re always looking for the best location to build products, here or globally. That’s still Madison for this project. We’re committed to keeping as much here as we can. More than 60% of what we sell is assembled in Madison, and [through this expansion] we expect that to keep climbing.”
Importantly, the expansion will allow SuperATV to create more products that are “Made in the USA,” which have always been a priority.
SuperATV’s CEO, Lindsay Hunt, had this to say about the expansion happening on Michigan Road: “We’re very proud of our presence in Madison. It’s exciting to continue to invest in a community that’s been with us from the start. Wherever and whenever we can, we prioritize American manufacturing. This expansion is totally aligned with those values.”
With the Michigan Road expansion now complete, SuperATV’s total footprint in Madison (which includes two locations) is just under 500,000 square feet, or about 11 acres. SuperATV expects that number to keep growing alongside the overall business.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunities this expansion will bring. Advanced new facilities will help us find new and better ways to continue to wow our customers,” said Hunt. “This is an exciting time for SuperATV, our customers, and our employees.”
It’s clear that SuperATV’s growth is good for their customers and the community. Keep your eyes on SuperATV.com for more info on future products and on the Off-Road Atlas for SuperATV updates, rider-focused advice, and industry news.
