Owning a CFMOTO ZForce feels like cheating. You get performance and features that punch above its price point, so you can keep up with the best machines out there.

That’s what makes it such a good machine to upgrade into a specialized trail-riding machine. It’s already good, and it’s affordable enough to get the upgrades you really want.

So here are our upgrade recommendations to build the ultimate CFMOTO ZForce Trail machine.

What Tight Woods Riding Demands from Your ZForce

Tight wooded trails offer unique challenges for any machine. Going wider can make it tougher to navigate tight turns and switchbacks when there are trees right off the path.

What you really need is protection from obstacles on the ground, and just off the trail, along with extra clearance to get through the ruts and debris you’ll come across.

Whether you’re riding in the Northwest, the Midwest, Appalachia, or any other woods, you’ll have a better time with these upgrades.

Must-Have Upgrades for a Trail-Ready ZForce

We’re starting with some no-brainer upgrades that will help you have more fun on your rides. These upgrades will give you more confidence.

High-Clearance A-Arms for Smoother Obstacle Clearance

High-clearance A-arms are an ideal upgrade for trail riding.

Our high-clearance A-arms for the ZForce are shaped in such a way as to give you around 1.5 inches of extra ground clearance without lifting the machine or making it wider.

They also use larger diameter tubing than stock for increased strength and have a 1.5-inch forward offset to give you room for larger tires.

With those enhancements, you can ride over bigger ruts and stumps without getting hung up, and even if something catches on them, they’re less likely to bend than your stock arms are.

To sum up, SuperATV High-Clearance A-Arms help your ZForce:

  • Ride over bigger obstacles without getting hung up
  • Cause less damage to your A-arms
  • Fit bigger tires for more aggressive riding

Heavy-Duty Tie Rods

Tight trails demand a lot of your steering system. Whether you’re flying through them or carefully navigating technical spots, you’re bound to abuse your tie rods.

That’s why you should upgrade to a set of heavy-duty swaged tie rods. Our tie rods and tie rod ends are designed to handle direct hits from rocks or logs and the intense demands of trail riding.

If you want to avoid breakdowns miles away from the trailhead, upgraded tie rods are a great place to start.

Here’s what sets our Heavy-Duty Swaged Tie Rods apart for your ZForce 950:

  • Tougher 7/8” diameter swaged steel design
  • Hardened steel monoball tie rod ends
  • Adjustable toe without disassembling

Full Skid Plates for Undercarriage Protection

When you’re on the trail, you’re gonna take hits to your undercarriage. At best, you’ll scrape the crap out of the bottom of your ZForce. At worst, you could get some debris straight through the floor.

Get a full ARMW skid plate from SuperATV to help prevent major damage. Even if getting crud from the trail through your floor is unlikely on a stock machine, ARMW gives you huge advantages on your average ride.

You’ll definitely notice how smoothly you can slide over rocks and logs thanks to the naturally slick properties of ARMW. You’re very unlikely to get hung up and high-centered with one of our skid plates installed.

Here’s what makes them deserve a spot on your trail build:

  • Made with 1/2” thick ARMW material (a proprietary blend of UHMW) designed to take bigger hits
  • Full front-to-back protection to beef up the undercarriage
  • Smooth and slick finish to avoid getting hung up
  • Designed to be easy to install.

Check out our CFMOTO ZForce Full Skid Plates.

Front and Rear Bumpers Protect Your Plastic

If you’ve ever made a three-point turn on a wooded trail, you know how easy it is to bump obstacles on the edge of the trail. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take much to crunch the plastic bodywork, especially on the rear.

Grab our front and rear bumpers to add rear machine protection and enhance the protection of the factory front bumper.

You know what bumpers are good for, but here’s the quick rundown:

  • Made of 1.5-inch diameter steel tubing to take hits without bending easily
  • Frame-mounted for long-lasting durability

Tires for Woods Riding

You don’t need massive tires with ultra-aggressive tread to get the grip you need on trails.

In fact, you’d be perfectly fine sticking with stock-sized or only slightly larger tires. (If you go with the forward offset A-arms we mentioned earlier, you’ll have room for 36-inch tires on your 950, which is more than enough for the trail.)

What’s most important for the trail is picking the right tread. We don’t know exactly what kind of dirt is on the trails you ride, but we’re confident that you’ll be well served by one of the all-terrain tires we offer. You’ll want to pick the exact tire based on the conditions on your trails:

  • Incursion All-Terrain Tires—best for hardpack trails
  • XT Warrior Tires—best for loose dirt and gravel, and they’re also great for uneven rocky terrain
  • Intimidator All-Terrain Tires—best for extremely loose or wet and muddy terrain

You can get our tires on their own and mount them yourself, or you can get them premounted.

Check out all of our tire and wheel combos.

Cab Protection and Visibility Accessories

Your experience in the cab is just as important as your ZForce’s capability outside the cab. That’s why you shouldn’t ignore windshields and lighting.

Windshields for Cab Protection

Let’s make this choice simple: do you want to protect your cab with a windshield, or do you want tan lines made of splattered bugs? Those are your options.

And it’s not just bugs. You want protection from branches, bushes, and all the rocks and crud your buddy in front of you can toss up.

Actually, you do have a bunch of windshield options too. We have full, flip, half, and vented windshields to get you started. For trail riding, we love airflow, and we love scratch-resistant polycarbonate because it’s so dang tough.

Our biggest recommendations are:

  • Vented Windshield—gives you full frontal protection with airflow for sticky days
  • Half Windshield—diverts air and debris over your head without blocking your view or sealing up your cab
  • Flip Windshield—gives you adaptability for riding through the hottest and coldest weather year-round

And don’t forget a Rear Windshield! Running a full front windshield without a rear windshield sucks in air from the sides, right where your front tires kick up dust. A rear windshield stops that phenomenon and keeps your cab from getting covered in dust.

Check out the rest of our ZForce windshields if our recommendations don’t quite hit the mark for you.

Compact Lighting for Dense Tree Cover

Dense woods get dark early. That coverage is what makes them so appealing on hot days, but it can cut your ride day short if you’re not prepared.

That’s why it’s always a good idea to add a light bar or cube lights to your ZForce. Our lights combine extreme brightness with the rugged durability that off-road trail riding demands.

Check out all our lighting accessories.

Build Your Ultimate Woods Machine

When you combine better ground clearance, protection, and durability, you’ll have a CFMOTO ZForce that’s Built for Battle™ and inspires confidence on the trails. And when you’re confident in your rig, you can focus on what matters most—having fun and making memories.

Take all these recommendations as a general guide, and be sure to prioritize upgrades that support the exact terrain and riding style you prefer. We have tons of CFMOTO ZForce parts and accessories that we didn’t even mention here!
