Whats up guys? Tyler here at SuperATV. On today’s episode of 2-Minute Tech Talk, let’s talk about ball joints.

You asked how we compare, so let’s settle things and see who has the best ball joint, and understand why this dang thing is so important We have always had a good OEM replacement ball joint but we wanted more. So we made it our mission to design and manufacture the best ball joint on the market.

In order to accomplish our mission, we had to understand how ball joints break. This little stud right here is the problem. The majority of the failures we see are due to added leverage. Whether that be from bigger tires, big lift kits, or portals. Low talent can be a factor too. You’re running down a trail and you clip a tree, a rock, a stump—something to cause a sudden impact—and BOOM, you’re broke.

So we identified 2 main factors to prevent ball joint failure, and those are strength and longevity. Machines these days are getting bigger and more powerful, and people are pushing the limits more than ever before. And that is why strength is so important.

The Ball Joint Test

[01:09] How do we test and what are the results? We use a tensile test machine that puts the ball joint stud in a simulated shear situation like smashing into a tree or rock that will cause the ball joint stud to break. This provides a very consistent test that can be easily repeated over and over and provides us with the yield and ultimate strength of the part.

We also field test each model specific ball joint with different variations of lift kits, long travel kits, and portals. You name it, we test it.

So, where do we stack up? The numbers speak for themselves. It took over 25,000 foot pounds to break the SuperATV stud. We accomplished our mission, and we are number one. There you have it, with SuperATV you get the best ball joint, a 5 year warranty, and industry-leading customer service all at a great price.

Thank you for watching, and we’ll catch you next time on two minute tech talk.
