What’s all the buzz about it? CFMOTO is taking the off-roading industry by storm. Whether it’s CFMOTO’s recreational lineup or its utility machines, we’re seeing more CFMOTOs on the trail than we ever have before.

We speculate it’s because CFMOTO’s producing quality machines for a very reasonable price. We’ve even gone as far as comparing CFMOTO’s price tags and machine specifications to Can-Am and Polaris. And we found that they’re undoubtedly a contender for one of the best UTV and ATV manufacturers.

With that being said, if you’re considering getting a CFMOTO for yourself and researching everything you need to know before walking into the dealership, we got you covered.

There’s no better place to start than its roots—where is CFMOTO made?

CFMOTO in China

CFMOTO was founded in 1989 in Hangzhou, China. Hangzhou is considered one of the Zhejiang province’s major tech centers and startup hubs, which has led them to become a multi-product manufacturer in a short amount of time.

The Hangzhou factory is huge—measuring 1.6 million square feet. It’s a manufacturing behemoth complete with R and D, ORV assembly, engine assembly, robotic frame welding, logistics, and more.

With the world’s leading technology, an abundance of manpower, and unlimited resources, it’s no surprise that they’ve become one of the top manufacturers in the world.

In fact, they’re making and distributing motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, side-by-sides, power sport engines, gears, parts, and accessories to more than 80 countries worldwide. If you take a step back and think about how large that number is, it can be overwhelming, especially with only 30+ years behind the business.

With 80 countries under their belt, it’s no shock that they have some big numbers when it comes to manufacturing. Since 2010 they have produced more than 800,000 engines annually from its home base in China.

As they continued to grow rapidly, they knew it was crucial to take the business overseas to meet demand. Can you guess where they landed?

The United States. Let’s take a look what CFMOTO is doing in the US.

CFMOTO in the United States

CFMOTO settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2007, making this their headquarters in the US. They did this knowing that if they could build on a global scale, they could make products and put them on the market at affordable prices.

The Minneapolis location, also known as CFMOTO USA, functions out of a 50,000 square warehouse, housing sales, service and warranty departments, part manufacturing, and marketing.

In 2011, CFMOTO opened its distribution center in Kansas City Missouri. The first line of ATVs and UTVs were released from this location. And they continue to be distributed from there today. This consists of three platforms—ATVs (CForce), recreational UTVs (ZForce), and utility UTVs (UForce).

And only four years after the distribution center was underway, CFMOTO USA quickly noticed its sales were topping the charts. They saw a 60% increase in sales overall since 2015, giving CFMOTO USA the hopes of becoming the number-one Chinese off-road brand in the United States.

With more than 50,000 vehicles distributed in this single location every year, that hope quickly become a reality for CFMOTO USA.

What does this mean for off-road enthusiasts in the US? Machines and parts are more readily available, and it’s easier to connect to CFMOTO dealers.
