Hey, what’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV. Today, we’re going to walk you through the installation process of Super ATV’s flip-down glass windshield on the Polaris Ranger XP1000. This upgrade is designed to provide both durability and convenience, making it perfect for enhancing your riding experience. Let’s get started.
First, we need to prepare the vehicle for installation. Begin by removing the hood of the Polaris Ranger XP1000. Twist the knobs on both sides of the hood to release it from the vehicle’s frame. Once the hood is detached, set it aside in a safe place. Next, we’ll focus on the dash area. Locate and remove the factory push pins that secure the dash. These pins are typically found at specific points along the dash where it connects to the vehicle’s structure. Use a push pin removal tool to carefully extract each pin, taking care not to damage the surrounding area. These push pins will be reused later in the installation process.
With the vehicle prepped, it’s time to install the lower mount for the windshield. Take the lower mount provided in the Super ATV kit and slide it into position on the vehicle. Align the holes in the mount with the corresponding holes on the dash where the factory push pins were previously removed. Once aligned, carefully reinstall the factory push pins to secure the lower mount firmly in place. Ensure each push pin is fully seated to maintain a secure attachment. This step ensures a stable base for mounting the windshield and prepares the vehicle for the next installation steps. After securing the lower mount, use the short M8 hardware included in the Super ATV kit to attach the bracketry to the cage of the Polaris Ranger XP1000. Position the brackets on both sides of the vehicle’s cage and secure them using the provided M8 hardware and Nylock nuts. Tighten the nuts securely to ensure the brackets are firmly attached and aligned properly.
Now, let’s move on to attaching the upper brackets of the windshield. Take the clamps provided in the Super ATV kit and position them around the upper portion of the vehicle’s cage. Ensure that the mounting tabs on the clamps are positioned correctly on the inside of the cage. Align the mounting tabs with the designated holes on the vehicle’s cage. Once aligned, secure the clamps using the M8 hardware and Nylock nuts provided in the kit. It’s advisable to have assistance during this step to ensure the brackets are aligned correctly and securely attached. Repeat this process for both sides of the vehicle, ensuring consistent installation of the upper brackets. Proper installation of these brackets ensures the stability and structural integrity of the windshield assembly, enhancing its performance and durability during use.
Next, we’ll focus on installing the foam and seals to enhance the windshield’s fit and weatherproofing. Begin by applying the foam strips included in the Super ATV kit along the top channel of the vehicle’s cage. This foam helps cushion the windshield and ensures a snug fit, minimizing vibrations and potential noise during operation. Once the foam strips are in place, apply the D-seal provided in the kit along the edge of the lower mount. The D-seal helps create a tight seal between the windshield and the vehicle, preventing water or debris from entering the cabin. Apply the seal carefully, ensuring complete coverage along the entire length of the lower mount for effective sealing.
With the preparations complete, it’s time to mount the glass windshield onto the Polaris Ranger XP1000. Carefully lift the glass windshield and position it onto the vehicle, aligning the holes on the bottom of the windshield with the corresponding brackets installed on the vehicle. Once aligned, insert the tapered Allen bolts through the holes in the windshield and secure them using the Nylock nuts provided in the kit. Tighten the nuts securely to ensure the windshield is firmly attached to the vehicle’s frame. Trim any excess sealant for a clean and professional finish.
Moving on to the latch and wiper installation, begin by attaching the latch mechanism to secure the windshield in the upright position. Use the hardware provided in the Super ATV kit to mount the latch securely to the windshield frame. Ensure the latch mechanism is aligned properly for effective operation. Next, install the wiper handle onto the windshield frame using the hardware included in the kit. Align the handle with the wiper arm and secure it with the provided nuts and washers. Tighten the nuts securely to ensure the wiper handle is firmly attached and aligned correctly with the wiper arm for optimal functionality.
With the windshield installed and components secured, it’s time to make final adjustments and conduct testing. Adjust the windshield to ensure it fits correctly and operates smoothly. Secure the windshield in the upright position using the latches provided, ensuring they lock securely into place. For added security when lowering the windshield, use the straps provided in the Super ATV kit. These straps help secure the windshield in the down position, preventing it from bouncing or rattling during use. Double-check all hardware to ensure its tightened properly and perform a final test to confirm the windshield’s functionality and stability.
