What’s up guys, today we’re going to be showing you how easy it is to install Super ATV’s flip windshield on this Polaris Ranger 570 SP. So, let’s jump right in and get started!
First things first, you always want to remove your windshield from the packaging and lay it up on your machine to confirm that it fits properly. This step ensures that there are no discrepancies in fitment and that everything lines up correctly. We’ve already done this with ours and it’s fitting perfectly. So now, we’re going to go ahead and remove the protective film from both sides of the windshield. This protective film keeps the windshield clear of scratches during shipping and handling, so make sure to remove it completely before proceeding.
Next, we need to install the bulb seal around the edges of the windshield. The bulb seal is crucial as it provides a tight seal between the windshield and the frame of your Polaris Ranger, preventing water, dust, and debris from entering the cab. Start at the top corner of the windshield. You can identify the top by locating the two holes that are closer together, unlike the bottom, which has evenly spaced holes. Take your bulb seal and start at this edge, working it all the way around the windshield. Ensure the bulb faces outward to create the proper seal. Once you reach the end, cut off any excess bulb seal.
Now, we’ll prepare our gas struts and clamps. These components are essential for allowing the windshield to flip up and stay in place securely. Thread the gas strut into the clamp by rotating it clockwise until it’s tight. Make sure both ends are firmly connected. Repeat this process for both gas struts to ensure they are ready for installation.
Next, we will install the top bracket onto the windshield. This bracket will help secure the top portion of the windshield to your Ranger. Use the short Allen-headed hardware and the ceiling washers provided in the kit. Make sure the ceiling portion of the washer faces the windshield to create a watertight seal. Insert the hardware from the outside in, through the bracket and the windshield. Once the bolt is through, install the nut but do not fully tighten it yet. We want all the hardware loosely installed to allow for adjustments later.
Now, we’ll move on to installing the bottom bracket using the same type of hardware. This bracket helps secure the bottom part of the windshield and ensures it stays in place while driving. Line up the holes in the bracket with the holes in the windshield and insert the hardware, making sure the washers are correctly oriented. Again, do not fully tighten the nuts yet as we may need to make adjustments to ensure everything lines up perfectly.
Next, we’ll install the side brackets. These brackets will help secure the sides of the windshield and provide mounting points for the gas struts. Make sure the flat side of the bracket, which is closed up, faces outward. Line up the holes in the bracket with the holes in the windshield and insert the hardware. Start by hand-tightening the nuts to keep everything in place, but don’t fully tighten them just yet. Repeat this process on both sides of the windshield.
Now, we’ll install the handle and catch mechanism. This setup allows you to easily open and close the windshield. Take the handle and position it on the inside of the windshield, aligning it with the two holes near the side bracket. The support bracket goes on the outside. Insert the provided hardware through the support bracket, then through the windshield, and finally into the handle. Install the nuts but leave them loose for now as we will need to adjust the handle later for proper alignment.
Next, we’ll apply the gasket across the top edge of the windshield. This gasket helps to create a seal between the windshield and the frame of the Ranger, preventing water and debris from getting in. Peel off the backing and firmly press the gasket into place along the top edge. Once you reach the end, cut off any excess gasket material.
We’ll now install the latch bracket to the clamp using the M8 screws provided in the kit. These brackets will secure the windshield in the closed position. Attach the bracket to the clamp, ensuring it is firmly in place. Tighten the M8 screws just enough to hold the bracket but still allow for minor adjustments. Repeat this process for both sides of the windshield.
With the latch brackets in place, we can now install the catch supports. These supports will hold the windshield securely when it is closed. Take the catch and the support and use the provided hardware to attach them together. Make sure the catch is aligned correctly with the latch bracket. Insert the hardware through the catch, then into the support, and tighten just enough to hold everything in place. Repeat this for both sides.
Next, we’ll attach the gas struts to the cage. Position the gas strut and clamp assembly onto the cage of the Ranger. Loosely start the hardware to hold the clamp in place but leave it adjustable. This will allow us to position the strut correctly once the windshield is installed. Repeat this process for both sides.
Before we proceed, we need to remove the roof of the Ranger to gain better access to the mounting points for the windshield. Use the appropriate tools to remove the roof bolts and carefully lift the roof off. Set it aside in a safe place where it won’t get damaged.
Now, we’ll install the pins that will hold the windshield in place. These pins allow the windshield to pivot. Insert the Allen-headed bolts through the pins and then through the holes in the cage. Add a flat washer and Nylock nut on the back side and tighten them just enough to hold everything in place. Ensure the pins are aligned correctly for smooth operation.
Next, install the barrels with the opening facing outward. These barrels will secure the windshield when it’s in the closed position. Insert the hardware through the barrel and into the cage, then add a flat washer and Nylock nut on the back side. Repeat this process for both sides of the windshield. Leave the hardware loose for now to allow for adjustments.
Go through and fully tighten all the bracketry hardware, ensuring everything is secure. This includes the top and bottom brackets, side brackets, latch brackets, and catch supports. Make sure all bolts and nuts are tightened evenly to avoid any misalignment.
With all the hardware in place, we can now install the windshield onto the Ranger. Align the windshield with the pins on the cage and slide it into position. Secure the windshield by tightening the pin hardware and the barrel hardware. Ensure the windshield sits evenly and that there are no gaps between the windshield and the frame. Make any necessary adjustments before fully tightening the hardware.
Next, we need to tighten the strut mounts. Raise the windshield to its open position and adjust the strut clamps so that the windshield opens and closes smoothly. Once you’ve found the correct position, fully tighten the strut mount hardware. Test the operation of the windshield to ensure it opens and closes without any issues.
With the windshield in place and the struts installed, we can now make the final adjustments. Ensure the windshield sits correctly when closed and that it latches securely. Adjust the catch supports if necessary to achieve a tight fit. Fully tighten all hardware, including the handle, cage clamps, bracket to clamp, and catch supports. Once everything is secure, re-install the roof.
