What’s up guys, today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s front bumper on this Can-Am Commander. This installation will enhance both the durability and aesthetics of your vehicle. Let’s get right to it!
First things first, you want to go ahead and get all the contents of your packaging out. Lay everything out on the table and make sure you have all the components. You’ll be looking for these clamps—there should be two of them. These clamps will couple the lower portion of the bumper to the upper portion. Having all your tools and parts laid out in front of you will make the installation process much smoother.
We’re going to take our clamps and get them lined up on the bungs on the upper portion as well as the lower portion to couple them together. I like to loosely start my hardware so I can rotate my clamp to wherever I want it. This step is crucial because it ensures that the bumper sections are aligned correctly.
Take the clamp, line it up just like so with the two bungs meshed together, and then take the opposite side and thread it in to couple them together. Start your screws, but don’t fully tighten anything just yet. This allows us to reorient the clamp and makes it easier to get the bumper on the machine. Once you have both sections aligned, make sure to tighten them evenly. Repeat the same exact step on the opposite side of the bumper.
Now that we have our clamps started and both sections of our bumper coupled together, get into your hardware pack. Remove the Allen-headed bolts, flat washers, and Nylock nuts. Get all these out and ready to go. Having everything prepared and within reach will streamline the process. Set your hardware pack aside for now, ensuring you don’t lose any small pieces.
We’re going to take our Allen-headed bolts and slide them through the bracket on the lower section of the bumper to couple it to the machine. This step will secure the bumper to the lower frame of your vehicle. Grab your bumper and head over to the machine, making sure to support it properly to avoid any scratches or misalignment.
Take your bumper and get it slid into position. It should sit up here just like this. Ensure that it is properly aligned with the vehicle’s frame for a secure fit. Grab your Allen-headed hardware and flat washer, and make sure to install the flat washer to the Allen. Line up the holes, slide the hardware through the bracket, reach around to the backside, and install the nut. Continue installing your hardware to each of the holes, ensuring all bolts are snug but not fully tightened yet. This allows for minor adjustments if needed.
If you encounter one of these holes being just a little bit too tight, you can use a ratchet or an impact tool to thread the Allen through the frame to install your Nylock nut on the backside. This ensures a secure fit. Be patient and ensure the hardware is aligned correctly to prevent cross-threading, which can damage the bolts or the frame.
Now, grab your M12 bolts out of the hardware kit and come to the inside of the fender well. You’ll see the bumper protruding through and a threaded hole in the frame. Lift your bumper up, start your hardware in, and run it up. Repeat the same steps on the opposite side but don’t fully tighten it just yet. Before we fully tighten that, we want to come out to the front and fully tighten our clamps. This ensures the bumper is held securely in place and aligns properly with the frame.
Fully tighten the clamps by snugging them in an X pattern. This ensures even pressure and a secure fit. Tighten one side a bit, then move to the opposite side, and repeat this process until all clamps are fully secured. Make sure both clamps are fully tightened before moving on to the next step. This step is crucial to maintain the structural integrity of the bumper.
Now, fully tighten the Allen-headed hardware securing the bumper to the frame. Once the Allens are tight, fully tighten the M12 bolts on both sides. This ensures the bumper is securely attached to the machine. Double-check all the bolts to ensure they are tight and secure. This step is vital for the overall safety and functionality of the bumper.
Grab your end caps and the last bit of hardware. Thread the hardware right in and fully tighten it. Make sure the Super ATV logo is facing up. Repeat the same steps for the opposite side to complete the end cap installation. The end caps not only provide a finished look but also add to the overall durability of the bumper.
Once you’ve fully tightened all your hardware, that’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s front bumper on this Can-Am Commander.
