What’s up, guys? Today we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s frame brace kit on this Honda Talon 1000R. Let’s get right to it.

Removing the Hood (0:29)

The first step is to remove the hood. To do this, grab the hood latches, lift them up, and rotate them. Then, pick up and slide the hood off, removing it from the machine. This will give you access to the upper shock mounting bolts. Removing the hood is straightforward, but ensure you handle the hood carefully to avoid any damage.

Removing Shock Mounting Bolts (0:41)

Once the hood is removed, you can access the upper shock mounting bolts. Begin by removing the nuts off the hardware. If you’re using a lift or a floor jack, ensure you put just enough tension on the shock to remove the bolt. Adjust your lift or jack until you can easily remove the bolt. Sometimes one side might be easier than the other, so adjust accordingly. This step is crucial as it prepares the shocks for the installation of the brace.

Installing the Shock Brace (1:26)

Now, grab your M12 by 75 millimeter bolts with two M12 nylocks and the shock brace. The shock brace will go on just like this. Line the shock brace up and insert the bolts. If necessary, use a punch to help align the shock and hardware. Once aligned, tighten the bolts. It’s important to ensure that the shock brace is properly aligned to avoid any issues with the installation.

Installing the Top Plate (2:35)

Next, grab the top plate for the brace and slide it underneath the radiator hose. It may be tight, but it will fit. Be careful with the vent line near the fan shroud; make sure it is not pinched or pulled out. Adjust the vent line as needed to fit the bracket. This step might require some patience, but ensuring the top plate fits correctly is crucial for the stability of the frame brace.

Removing Upper A-Arm Hardware (3:29)

Remove the nuts from the upper A-arm hardware. Leave the shock hooked up and wiggle the A-arm around until you can remove the hardware. Use a socket to unthread any bolts that are difficult to remove. This step prepares the A-arm for the installation of the new brace.

Installing the Brace (4:12)

Slide the brace into position on the passenger side. Grab two M12 by 90 millimeter bolts, two M12 nylocks, and your hardware. Wiggle the A-arm around until the hardware goes through. Use a punch to help align the hardware if necessary. Once aligned, tighten the bolts. This ensures that the brace is securely attached to the A-arm, providing additional stability.

Securing the Upper A-Arms (5:46)

Use short M10 bolts (three per side) and three M10 nylocks per side. Align the bracket for the upper A-arms with the plate and start the hardware, but do not fully tighten yet. Ensure all three bolts are started on the passenger side before moving to the driver’s side. This step is crucial for aligning the upper A-arms with the new brace.

Installing the Driver’s Side Brace (6:36)

Repeat the same steps on the driver’s side. Remove the A-arm hardware and slide the bolts out. For the rear-most bolt on the driver’s side, it will go through the chassis and end up on the inside. Reach in and start the bolt. This step ensures that the brace is properly installed on both sides of the vehicle.

Installing the Driver’s Side Bracket (7:08)

Grab the last M12 by 90 bolt and the only M12 by 80 bolts, along with two M12 nylocks. Ensure the brake line is out of the way. Install the long bolt (90mm) in the front and the shorter bolt (80mm) in the rear. Start the hardware and tighten it. This final step secures the driver’s side bracket to the vehicle, completing the installation process.

Reinstalling the Hood and Final Steps (9:00)

Now, go through and fully tighten all the hardware on both sides. Make sure everything is secure. This ensures that the frame brace is properly installed and secured to the vehicle, providing maximum stability. Once all the hardware is tightened, reinstall the hood by lining it up with the tabs and securing it with the latches. This completes the installation process, and your vehicle is ready to go.
