What’s up, guys? Braden here with Super ATV, and today we’re going to show you how to install the Hood Rack Charlie on this Honda Pioneer 1000-6. Let’s get right to it.

Preparation and Initial Setup [0:33]

The first step in the installation process is to prepare the clamps and bracket. We’re going to remove the lower halves of the clamps from our bracket. Each clamp has four bolts that need to be removed. After separating the clamps from the bracket, lay the bracket onto the factory front bumper of the Honda Pioneer 1000-6. Rotate the bracket until it sits flush on the tube, ensuring a proper fit.

Installing the Clamps and Hardware [1:07]

Next, we’ll start installing the clamps and hardware. Take your clamp and hardware and begin threading the hardware through the clamp into the threaded portion of the front bracket. It’s important to get all four screws started in the clamp to ensure stability. This step secures the bracket to the bumper, providing a solid foundation for the hood rack.

Removing Cage Hardware and Installing Brackets [1:41]

Now, we’re going to remove the existing hardware from the cage of the UTV. This will allow us to install the new brackets. Grab the bracket for the right side and position it correctly, with the tab facing up. The spacer will sit behind the bracket. Slide the M12 hardware through the hole, the spacer, and the bracket, and then line it up with the cage.

Once the brackets are in place, install the bolts. Align the cage properly, and if needed, use a punch to help with the alignment. It’s common for the cage to move slightly when the hardware is removed, but it can usually be adjusted easily. Once aligned, start the bolt through and put the nut on to secure it.

Snugging Up Hardware [3:49]

After positioning the brackets, snug the hardware but leave some room for minor adjustments. Install the grease fittings into the bottom of the pivot block. These fittings are threaded, so make sure they are started straight and tightened properly. Next, thread the plunger into the threaded hole and use a wrench to snug it up, locking the jam nut in place.

Now, we’ll make the final adjustments and secure the locking nuts. Release the pin and lift the bracket to line up the hole. Install the bolt, washer, and M10 nut. Repeat this process on the opposite side. Ensure that all components are aligned and tightened properly. This step secures the hood rack in place and allows for easy operation.

Securing the Rack [5:32]

With the brackets and hardware in place, it’s time to secure the rack. Pick up the rack and line up the hole, then install the pins to hold everything in position while you tighten it. Hold the bracket up and tighten it snugly, but do not overtighten. This ensures that the rack can pivot easily. The hardware should be tight enough to hold the rack securely, but not so tight that it restricts movement.

Tightening Clamps and Testing [6:37]

Fully tighten the clamps in an X pattern to ensure even distribution of pressure. To test the installation, pull the pins and lift the rack to flip it up. Engage the latch to hold the rack in the upright position. When you’re ready to lower it, pull the pin and set the rack back down. Lock the pins down in the front to secure the rack in place.
