What’s up guys? Today we’re going to show you how to install Super ATV’s hood scoop on this Kawasaki Mule. Let’s get right to it.
The first thing we’re going to do is come here to our hood and rotate our quarter turns. Once both are rotated, flip the hood over.
If you look on the bottom, you’ll see a little plastic washer, which is a split washer. Split it in half just like so, pull it off of your quarter turn pin, and remove it completely. Repeat the same step for the opposite side of the hood to remove the second split washer.
Now, remove the outer two 10-millimeter bolts from the hood. These bolts will not be reused, so you can discard them.
Grab your hood scoop and lay it up on the machine temporarily. Take one of your brackets and attach it to the hood scoop in the spot that aligns with the factory threaded hole from which you just removed the bolts. Use the short Allen bolts provided in the kit. Slide the bolts through the bracket from the outside, then secure them with the Nylock nuts. Make sure the bracket is aligned with the factory threaded hole, and start threading the Allen bolts in but do not fully tighten them yet.
Now that the hood scoop is roughly in place, grab your block-off plate if you’d like to install it. Blocking off this area will prevent airflow through the cab, which is useful if it gets cold. Today, we’ll install the block-off plate. Use the long hardware to feed it through the spot where the hood attaches in the factory position. On the bottom side, secure it with a Nylock nut.
Grab your short Allen bolts again and line up the block-off plate with your bracket. Slide the hardware through and secure it on the backside with a Nylock nut. Repeat these steps for the opposite side to ensure the block-off plate is firmly attached.
Next, grab your clip nuts and slide them on as shown. These will help secure the hood scoop in place.
Use the new hardware provided to fasten the hood scoop back to the vehicle using the factory threaded holes. Start by tightening the brackets at the top and bottom to ensure the scoop is securely in place. Make sure all connections are secure.
Now that the hood scoop is attached, grab your hood and line it up with the factory tabs on the vehicle. Take your thumb screws and thread them right down into the clips that we previously installed. Ensure these are nice and snug.
Once you have all your hardware fully tightened, that’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s hood scoop on this Kawasaki Mule.
