[00:00] Introduction

If you’re the kind of rider who constantly changes windshield positions based on trail conditions, weather, or personal preference, SuperATV’s Power Flip Windshield is the upgrade you need. It gives you total control over airflow and visibility with push-button convenience. In this video, Braden Adams from Grease the Wheels walks you through how to install the Power Flip Windshield on a Can-Am Maverick R from start to finish.

[00:42] What Tools You’ll Need

Before diving into the installation, Braden outlines the tools required for the job. Make sure you have basic hand tools including T30 Torx, 10mm and 13mm sockets, 3mm and 5mm Allen wrenches, and a utility knife or scissors for trimming the seals. Having everything on hand makes the install process quicker and easier.

[00:56] Unboxing the Kit and Prepping the Windshield

Begin by unpacking all the contents of your Power Flip Windshield kit. Lay the windshield on your Can-Am Maverick R to confirm it fits properly. Once the fit is verified, carefully remove the protective film.
Next, install the bulb seal along the edge of the windshield. Make sure the bulb side of the seal faces the inside of the cab. Start at one top corner, run the seal around the perimeter, and trim any excess. Repeat this step for both the lower and upper portions of the windshield.

[02:57] Installing the Hinges to the Windshield

Now that the seals are installed, it’s time to attach the hinges that allow the windshield to open and close. Use the short M6 tapered Allen bolts for this step. Install the hinges onto the lower and upper windshield halves, but leave the top hinge holes empty for now. This hardware will be used later when attaching the windshield to the actuator brackets.

[04:15] Apply D-Seal to Prevent Rattling

To minimize noise and wear from metal-on-metal contact, apply the included D-seal on the two metal brackets of the upper windshield portion. This acts as a buffer and improves the lifespan and comfort of your windshield setup. Trim off any excess after applying the seal.

[04:41] Assembling the Actuators

Locate the actuators and install the small white bushings into all the mounting holes. These bushings reduce friction and ensure smooth operation when the actuators raise and lower the windshield.

[05:01] Removing the Upper Dash Panel

You’ll need access behind the dash to install the wiring and rocker switch. Start by removing the T30 Torx screws and 10mm bolts securing the upper dash and side panels. Be sure to keep track of all hardware and washers. Remove the inspection panel in the center and detach both the driver and passenger side dash sections.

[06:10] Installing the Wiring Harness and Rocker Switch

Feed the provided wiring harness through the dash and install the rocker switch into one of the available knockouts. The switch will control the opening and closing of your Power Flip Windshield. Connect the red (hot) wire to a key-on power source and the black wire to a ground. Then, route the actuator wires—one stays near the switch, and the other crosses to the opposite side of the machine. Secure excess wiring with zip ties or trim to length as needed.

[08:48] Reassembling the Dash Panel

With the wiring in place, reinstall all previously removed dash panels. Make sure everything clicks and fits back together securely, and ensure no wires are pinched or exposed.

[09:31] Installing the Actuator Mounting Brackets

Identify the left and right actuator brackets by their orientation. Mount each bracket to the frame using the long M10 Allen bolts and nuts provided in the kit. Do not fully tighten yet—keep them slightly loose so the windshield alignment can be adjusted during installation.

[10:25] Mounting the Actuators to the Brackets

Using the shoulder bolts and small nuts, loosely mount each actuator to the lower portion of its respective bracket. Make sure the bushings are installed. Then plug the actuators into the harness but leave them hanging until you mount the windshield.

[11:00] Mounting the Windshield to the Machine

With the help of a second person, carefully lift the windshield into place. Align the hinge holes with the tabs on the actuator brackets. Use the long recessed Allen bolts to connect everything securely. Install the rubber mounting straps to the roll cage to stabilize the windshield.

[12:04] Attaching the Actuator Shafts to the Windshield

Make sure the actuator shafts are fully threaded into their cylinders before attempting attachment. This ensures correct extension and retraction. If the actuator doesn’t quite reach, turn on the key and extend it slightly using the rocker switch until it aligns with the bracket. Secure it with the included shoulder bolt and nut.

[13:00] Final Tightening and Adjustments

Once the windshield and actuators are secured, go back and fully tighten the actuator bracket mounting bolts (5mm Allen + 13mm wrench) and actuator shoulder bolts (3mm Allen + 8mm wrench). This ensures all hardware is torqued and locked down for trail-ready durability.

[13:39] Testing the Power Flip Windshield

With the installation complete, test the functionality by turning the key and using the rocker switch to cycle the windshield open and closed. Make sure it moves freely and stops correctly at both ends.
