[00:00] Introduction

Tired of committing to just one windshield position? Whether you’re battling wind, dust, or changing weather, SuperATV’s Power Flip Windshield lets you choose exactly how much airflow and protection you want—without ever leaving your seat. In this installation guide, Braden Adams takes you through a complete walkthrough for installing this windshield on a Polaris Ranger XD 1500. This versatile upgrade adds comfort, functionality, and premium control to your ride.

[00:45] Tools Required for Installation

Before getting started, Braden outlines the tools needed to complete the install. You’ll need:

  • T20 and T40 Torx drivers
  • 13mm wrench or socket
  • 3mm and 5mm Allen wrenches
  • Push pin removal tool
  • Razor knife or scissors
  • Electrical crimp connectors and wire strippers

Having all tools ready beforehand helps ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.

[00:53] Attaching the Hinges to the Windshield

Start by mounting the hinges to the windshield using the included M8x25mm hardware and Nylock nuts. Position the windshield face-up so the hardware can be inserted from the outside (front) to the inside.
You’ll use three bolts per side. Once in place, tighten the hardware completely—these hinges are multi-angle and will flex as needed when mounted to the machine later.

[01:43] Removing Protective Film and Installing the Adhesive Seal

After confirming your windshield fits correctly, remove the protective film. Apply the pre-adhesive bulb seal to the perimeter of the windshield, starting from the center lower edge. Ensure the seal faces the inside of the cab for a proper seal.
Peel back the adhesive backing gradually as you work your way around the edge. Press the seal firmly to ensure it bonds securely. Use a sharp razor to make a clean cut where the seal meets itself for a seamless finish.

[03:09] Remove the Headliner and A-Pillar Trim

To make room for the windshield and wiring, begin removing the headliner. Use a push pin removal tool to gently rock and twist each pin out. After all pins are out, remove the headliner and store it safely.
Next, remove the A-pillar trim panels by first removing the T20 screws from each side. These allow full access to the mounting points for the actuator brackets and wiring later on.

[03:59] Install the Flat Seal Along the Roof Line

If not already installed, apply the flat rubber seal along the top lip of the cage where the windshield will seal against the roof. You may need to slightly lift the roof panel to slide the seal in place. Make sure it’s flush with the edge of the frame and trim any excess for a clean fit.

[04:23] Console and Dash Disassembly for Wire Access

Pop out the center console push pins and lift the console to release the retaining tabs. Then move up to the dash area. Remove the rubber trays from the top of the dash to reveal the T40 Torx screws beneath.
Remove these screws and lift the dash trim. You’ll also need to pry up and pull out the instrument cluster pod. Use a plastic trim tool to avoid damaging clips, and firmly pull the cluster straight out.

[06:30] Remove A-Pillar Covers and Hood

Continue by removing the A-pillar trim—secured with push pins and clips. Work side-to-side until it pops free. Repeat this process for both driver and passenger sides. Finally, remove the hood to expose the front wiring access points for the power harness.

[06:58] Route the Actuator Harness Through the Dash

Feed the actuator wiring harness from the interior dash through the appropriate routing channels toward each A-pillar. Use a guide wire to help pull the connector through tight spaces.
Make sure the wires are routed cleanly behind panels and trim areas to prevent damage when reassembling the dash.

[08:51] Connect Power and Rocker Switch Wiring

Feed the hot and ground leads through the dash and out the grommet near the front of the machine. Strip the wire ends and use crimp connectors to connect:

  • Red (hot) to the orange (keyed-on) wire from the pulse bar
  • Black (ground) to the brown wire
Tug each connection lightly to ensure they’re secure. Insert the included fuse and tuck the extra wire behind the dash for a clean look.

Pop out a rocker switch panel slot and insert the new switch. Connect it to the control harness and test fit the position.

[10:58] Final Power Connections at the Pulse Bar

Remove a dummy plug from the factory pulse bar and insert the SuperATV power connection. This energizes the windshield system and allows the switch to actuate the windshield once it’s fully installed.

[12:09] Mount Clamps and Actuator Brackets to Cage

Remove the factory grab handles and mount the included clamps where the actuator brackets will go. Position the clamps just below the threaded cage inserts and install them with 13mm bolts.
Then, attach the actuator brackets to the clamps using short M8 Allen bolts. Repeat on both sides.

[12:48] Install the Windshield Onto the Vehicle

Apply adhesive foam strips to the back side of the hinge brackets. Lift the windshield into place and align the hinges with the factory notches in the roof. Use M6 x 16mm bolts to secure the windshield to the cage frame from below. Ensure the bolts thread cleanly into the hinge mounting points.

[13:19] Attach the Actuators and Plug In Wiring

Insert the bushings into the upper actuator ends and mount them to the upper actuator bracket using the provided shoulder bolts.
Connect the actuator wiring harness. If the actuator shaft doesn’t align with the lower bracket, briefly power it using the rocker switch to extend or retract it as needed. Secure it in place using the same shoulder bolt hardware.

[14:29] Final Tightening and Clamp Adjustment

Once the windshield and actuators are properly aligned, fully tighten all hardware. This includes hinge bolts, actuator mounting bolts, and cage clamp fasteners. Confirm all bolts are torqued appropriately and the windshield opens and closes without resistance.

[14:49] Secure Wiring with Adhesive Covers

Use the included adhesive-backed wire covers to cleanly route and secure your wiring along the A-pillars or cage tubing. Cut them to length, peel off the backing, and press them in place to prevent sagging or exposure to the elements.

[16:00] Final Steps and Function Test

Reinstall the headliner, dash panels, and center console. Zip-tie or tuck away any loose wiring. Turn on the key and test the windshield operation using the rocker switch. The windshield should smoothly open and close, giving you complete control over airflow and protection.

[16:08] Conclusion – Ready for Any Trail Conditions
