What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV. Today I’m going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s premium soft cabin closure on this Honda Talon 1000, so let’s get right to it.

Removing Factory Hardware [0:35]

The first step in the installation process is to remove the factory hardware from specific points on your Honda Talon. Start by locating the hardware at the points shown in the video and remove it. For the hole that needs to be drilled, use a drill to expand it to accept an 8 mm bolt. This step is crucial for ensuring that the new hardware fits properly and securely. Additionally, remove the factory hardware from the other indicated points. This will prepare the vehicle for the installation of the new soft cabin closure frame. Ensuring all specified factory hardware is removed will make the subsequent steps much smoother.

Installing the Door Frame [0:54]

Next, grab your upper door frame and position it on the vehicle. Using the M8 by 55 mm hardware with the hex head, secure the frame at the specified points. For the remaining points, use the M6 hex head bolts provided in the kit. Begin by loosely fitting all bolts to allow for adjustments. Once all bolts are in place, tighten them securely. This ensures that the door frame is properly aligned and firmly attached. Double-check the tightness of each bolt to prevent any movement or misalignment during use.

Installing Hook and Loop [1:43]

If this is your first installation, apply the hook and loop tape along the cage. Start from the top and work your way down to the specified points. The hook and loop tape should run around the entire cage down to the indicated points, ensuring a secure fit for the soft cabin closure. Cut a small slit in the hook and loop to facilitate the removal of bolts. This allows you to remove the rear-most cage bolts and the center cage bolts without disrupting the hook and loop.

Installing the Frame to the Rear Cage [2:30]

For this step, gather two M10x 45 mm bolts, two spacers, and two M10 Nylock nuts. Install the frame to the rear-most cage mounting bolt holes by sliding the bolt through, adding the spacer, and securing it in place. If the cage has sprung out of alignment, use two axle straps and a ratchet strap to pull it back into shape.

Position the frame and start the bolts with spacers to hold it in place. This may require some adjustment and the use of additional tools like a punch or chisel to align the holes. Once the bolts are in position, remove the straps and ensure everything is aligned correctly. Fully tighten the bolts to secure the frame. This ensures that the frame is stable and will support the soft cabin closure properly. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure.

Securing the Frame with Universal Clamps [5:06]

Install heat shrink to your universal clamps as shown in the video. Position the clamps on the cage, aligning them with the holes on the brackets. Use the M6 button head Allens from the hardware kit to secure the clamps. Ensure the clamps hold the frame in place but do not fully tighten yet. By not fully tightening the clamps initially, you allow for final adjustments to ensure everything aligns correctly.

Installing Passenger Side Mounting Bracket [7:17]

Grab the mounting bracket for the passenger side along with the M10x 45 mm bolts and spacers. Make sure the bent portion with the hole faces out and forward. Install the bracket in the center cage holes where the hardware was removed. Secure it with M10 Nylock nuts. Use a 15 mm socket and wrench to fully tighten the hardware. This will secure the mounting bracket firmly to the cage, providing a stable base for the soft cabin closure.

Installing the Loop Clamp [8:24]

Use a loop clamp and M6x 20 mm hex head bolt for this step. Slide the loop clamp around the frame tube and align it with the hole on the mount. Secure the hardware with the Nylock nut, using a 5 mm Allen wrench and a 10 mm socket and wrench to tighten it. Ensure the loop clamp is securely tightened to prevent any movement. This step is essential for maintaining the stability and security of the soft cabin closure.

Attaching the Soft Enclosure [9:23]

Attach the upper portion of the soft enclosure by snapping it onto the tube frame. Ensure that it is clipped all the way around to provide a secure fit. This step is crucial for maintaining the enclosure’s integrity and weather resistance. Roll back the flap for the hook and loop, fastening it around the cage. This ensures that the soft enclosure is tightly secured and will not move or come loose during use.

Securing the Door Flap [10:28]

Remove the two push pins on the side of the machine. Flip the door flap back down, line up the holes, and pop the push pins through the soft enclosure and into the plastic of the machine. Attach the snaps on the enclosure to the rear panel. Ensure the door flap is securely attached and properly aligned. This step is important for maintaining the functionality and appearance of the soft cabin closure.

Aligning and Securing the Rod [11:36]

Align the rod inside the door frame with the hole on the upper bracket. Use two nylon washers, a pin, and a clevis pin to secure the rod. Ensure it fits properly, allowing the door to close with a nice fit and finish. Proper alignment and securing of the rod are crucial for the door’s operation and the overall fit of the soft cabin closure. Double-check the alignment and make any necessary adjustments.

Final Adjustments [12:18]

Lastly, install the corner plate to fill in the area. Wrap the enclosure around it. Go back through to ensure the enclosure is adjusted correctly and all hardware is fully tightened. Check for any wrinkles or misalignments and adjust as needed. That’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s premium soft cab on this Honda Talon 1000.
