The first step in preparing your Kawasaki Teryx 4 for the soft cab enclosure installation is to remove the roof if your machine is equipped with one. Once the roof is off, it’s crucial to clean all the mounting surfaces thoroughly. Mix 75% rubbing alcohol with 25% water and spray it generously on the cage and the tops of the doors. Wipe it down well to remove any dirt, grime, or residues that could prevent the adhesive hook and loop fasteners from sticking properly. Repeat this cleaning process two more times to ensure the surfaces are spotless.
Now, grab your hook and loop fastener. Begin at the front section of the cage and run it all the way up and back along the top tube. Make sure to apply the fastener smoothly, pressing it firmly against the cage to ensure a strong bond. If you have components like clamps or a windshield, use scissors to cut the fastener and fit it around these obstacles. Continue applying the fastener, working out any wrinkles or kinks. If you encounter sections where the fastener doesn’t lay flat, use a razor blade to notch around brackets or other protrusions, ensuring the fastener adheres flush to the cage.
Next, take the rear portion of the soft cab enclosure and position it on the machine. You’ll need to maneuver it around and adjust it several times to get the perfect fit. Ensure the tabs and straps are tucked properly under the tubes. Stretch the material taut to minimize wrinkles and ensure a tight fit. This will help keep the enclosure secure and reduce flapping when you’re driving. It’s essential to take your time with this step to ensure the enclosure is installed correctly and looks great.
Now, focus on the front portion of the soft cab enclosure. Similar to the rear, you’ll need to adjust it to fit properly. Make sure the snaps on the enclosure are positioned where you can easily secure them on the door’s surface. Avoid placing snaps on uneven or curved areas to ensure they hold securely. Tighten all the straps to make sure the front enclosure is snug and wrinkle-free. If you have a power flip windshield, you might need to tuck the enclosure material under the windshield seal for a clean look.
To secure the enclosure to the doors, you’ll need to install snaps. Start by marking the locations for the snaps using a paint marker. Roll the snap up to make it visible, then color around the snap with the marker. Press the enclosure firmly against the door to transfer the paint mark, indicating where to install the snap. Use a screw to attach the snap to the door. Repeat this process for all snaps, ensuring they are evenly spaced and tightly secured. This will keep the enclosure firmly in place and prevent it from flapping while driving.
When you need to open up the cab enclosure, roll up the flap neatly and secure it to itself using the provided fasteners. This will keep the flap out of the way and ensure it doesn’t obstruct your view or movement. To close the window, simply zip it up when you’re ready to ride. If you need to get out, unzip the window, let it fall, and open the door. The flap can be rolled up and stored using the top flap that snaps onto the outside of the enclosure, keeping everything tidy and secure.
