What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV. Today I’m going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s replacement fuel pump on this Polaris Ranger XP900, so let’s get right to it.

Disconnecting the Battery [0:35]

The first step is to locate the battery. On the four-seat model or the crew model, lift up the rear seat. There may be a panel that you’d have to remove; ours has already been removed. Loosen the positive terminal and disconnect it from the battery. Tuck the terminal down to ensure it does not make contact.

Accessing the Fuel Tank [1:05]

Next, locate your gas tank on the driver’s side. Remove the panel covering the gas tank and set it aside. Use an air blower to remove mud, dirt, and debris from the top of the tank and fuel pump to prevent contamination when you remove the fuel pump.

Releasing Tank Pressure and Disconnecting Fuel Line [1:40]

Remove the gas cap to relieve any pressure in the tank. Disconnect the wiring harness by picking up the tab on the connector and wiggling it off. Set it aside. Be mindful when disconnecting the fuel line; lift the green retaining clip and use a rag to cover the line as you remove it to catch any fuel spray.

Removing the Retaining Ring and Fuel Pump [2:35]

Remove the retaining ring from the fuel pump by spinning it off. Loosen and remove the T40 screws securing the middle panel with the ECU and the fuse block. Shift this panel to the side to access the fuel pump. Remove the retaining ring, making sure not to drop it into the tank, and carefully lift out the fuel pump. Let it drain for a moment before completely removing it from the machine.

Installing the New Fuel Pump [3:45]

Grab the float and install it onto the new fuel pump. Ensure it snaps into the groove firmly. If your machine is older, take this opportunity to clean out any dirt and debris from the fuel tank using a pump to suck out old fuel. This step ensures your new pump operates in a clean environment.

Reassembling the Fuel Pump [4:46]

Slide the rubber ring onto the new pump, ensuring it sits properly. Insert the new pump into the tank, starting with the float. Push down on the pump to ensure the rubber ring is fully seated. Place the retaining ring over the pump and start tightening it. Adjust as necessary to ensure the plug and other components fit correctly. Secure the retaining ring tightly.

Reconnecting Fuel Line and Wiring [5:32]

Reconnect the fuel line by removing the rubber cap and popping the green tabs back out. Push the fuel line down until it snaps in place and pull up and down to ensure it is locked. Reconnect the wiring harness by popping it back on. Wipe off any excess fuel from the installation area.

Final Steps [6:04]

That’s how easy it is to install Super ATV’s replacement fuel pump on this Polaris Ranger XP900. All you have to do now is go back through, replace all your panels, button the machine back up, and you’re good to go.
