What’s up, guys? Today we’re going to install SuperATV’s Winch-Ready Front Bumper on this Can-Am Defender. Let’s get right to it.
First, go to the front of the machine and remove both of the factory T40 torx screws. You’ll have a 13 mm nut in the channel—take a socket and impact to snap it a couple of times. Remove the bolt and the nut.
You’ll do that over here, too.
[1:09] Now we’re going to grab our M8 X 25 mm bolt. You should have two of them, as well as two of our bumper tubes. We’re going to take our M8 X 25 mm bolt and slide it through the hole that we previously removed our factory hardware from.
It can be a little bit tricky not to drop the bolt. Take a little bit of electrical tape and wrap it onto the head of the bolt. This will make it stick in the socket a little better, so we don’t drop it down into the frame because if we do, we’re most likely not going to get it back.
We’re going to reach through on the back side, where we previously removed the factory hardware. Slide the bolt through, grab your bumper tube, and thread it on. Tighten it as tight as you can by hand, and then we’ll come back with a ratchet to snug it up.
[2:16] Once we have that on, we’re going to do the same exact process for the opposite side. Just tape the bolt up—you can do it without electrical tape but this is just to be safe. It will save you time if you drop it down in the frame because it’s pretty difficult to get it back out.
Put it in the socket, reach through, and pop it through the hole. We’re just going to thread our bumper tube on. Then we’ll grab a ratchet and snug these up.
Now we’re going to grab two of our M8 x 25 mm bolts, as well as two of our M8 Nylock nuts and the mount plate, and we’re going to install it to our machine.
Take our bolt and slide it through. To make it easier, I like to start one side and let it hang, then reach around from the back side with the M8 Nylock nut and start it. Flip the mount plate up into position and then start the bolt through the other side. Start the nut just like so.
[4:37] Next we’ll mount the mount frame. To do that, we’ll need three M10 x 25 mm bolts as well as three M10 Nylocks and two M8 x 25 mm bolts.
We’ll take our mount frame and slide it into position. Line it up with our tubes. We’ll go ahead and start the hardware, but we don’t want to fully tighten anything yet. The only thing that should be fully tightened is the bumper tubes. Then we’ll mount our mount frame.
Let’s start the hardware on all three of the holes. I like to make sure we center our bumper with the plastic, so if we need to adjust it we can do so. I want to make sure there’s the same gap between here and here on both sides of the bumper mount.
When we do that, we’re good to fully tighten our tubes and then we can tighten the rest of our hardware. I’m going to continue to fully tighten the hardware now that the bumper is adjusted where it needs to be.
[7:01] Now we’re going to grab our brush guard. We’ll set it up onto the frame.
Then we’re going to grab four of our M10 bolts. We’ll thread these directly into the bumper. Now we’re going to thread our hardware through the brush guard into the bumper mount.
I like to pull my bumper out as far as it’ll go and hold it in that position, then fully tighten my hardware. Now we’re going to grab four of our M8 x 20 mm bolts—that should be the last bit of hardware in the kit. We’ll also need four M8 Nylock nuts and our cross tube.
I’m going to install it just like this. You can do it either way—you can do it like this or you can flip it around and install it like this. I kind of want it to lean forward, so that’s how we’re going to install it today. You could flip it around and install it the opposite way if you’d like. It’s totally up to you.
[8:38] Take the bolt and pop it through the hole. It will go down through the brush guards, then we’ll take our M8 and come from the bottom. Get it started and continue doing that for the rest of our three holes.
Now we’re going to fully tighten our hardware.
The last thing we’ll do is pop on our tow hooks. It’s super easy—just unscrew the pin, line it up with the hole, slide it through, and tighten it up.
Now that our hooks are on and our hardware is tight, there are a couple of features I’d like to go over with you. This bumper is set up for a SuperATV Black Ops Winch as well as LED cube lights.
Once your hardware is tightened, that’s all there is to installing SuperATV’s Winch-Ready Bumper on this Can-Am Defender. Be sure to check us out online to pick yours up today. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe. Thanks for watching and we’ll catch you on the next one!
