Hey guys, Braden here with Super ATV. Today, we’re going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s Outfitter Rack on this Can-Am Defender. Let’s get right to it.
The first step in installing the Super ATV’s Outfitter rack is preparing the right-side mount. Begin by removing the right-side mount from the packaging. Lay it up on the bed and align it with the factory holes. In the hardware kit, you will find M10 by 40-millimeter Allen-headed bolts, washers, and M10 Nylock nuts. Drop the bolts through the mount holes and the bed pockets. Underneath, add a washer and start the nut on the threads. This can be tricky due to the tight spaces, but it’s important to ensure the bolts are properly threaded. Repeat this process for all four bolts on the right side, making sure to start all nuts without fully tightening them. Move to the opposite side and repeat the same steps, ensuring that both mounts are securely positioned.
Next, you’ll install the uprights. Locate the rear upright and the front left upright from your kit. Ensure that the flat pieces with bolt holes align correctly with the driver’s side of the machine. This alignment is crucial for the stability of the rack. Using the M10 by 55-millimeter Allen-headed screws, secure the uprights to the mounts, threading an M10 Nylock nut on the backside. Start all hardware without fully tightening to allow for adjustments. Repeat the process for the remaining three uprights. Proper alignment and securing of these components are essential for the overall stability and functionality of the rack.
Now, it’s time to attach the hook panel to the uprights. This step is easier if you have someone to help hold the panel in place while you start the hardware. Use the M8 by 20-millimeter bolts from your hardware kit to secure the hook panel to the uprights. Ensure that the panel is aligned correctly with the uprights before starting to thread the bolts. Repeat these steps on both sides, making sure the hook panel is firmly attached and properly aligned. The hook panel provides additional stability and functionality, so proper installation is key.
The brace installation is the next step. Using the same M8 by 20-millimeter hardware, attach the brace inside the bed. Insert the bolts through the brace and bed, starting the nuts on the threads. Make sure the bent edge of the support is facing towards the machine. Repeat this process for the other support brace. The braces add significant stability to the rack, so ensure they are securely attached and properly aligned.
Next, you will install the corner braces. These braces have two sets of holes for height adjustment, allowing you to choose your desired height for the rack. Select the appropriate set of holes and use the M10 Allen bolts and nuts to attach the braces. Ensure that the braces are properly aligned and securely fastened at the chosen height. Repeat this process for all corner braces. The corner braces are crucial for the structural integrity of the rack, so make sure they are installed correctly.
Attach the rear panel to the core supports using M6 Allen-headed hardware. Ensure the panel is properly aligned with the core supports before securing it with the provided nuts and bolts. Follow the same process for the side panels, using the same M6 hardware. Proper installation of the rear and side panels is essential for the overall stability and functionality of the rack. Repeat the steps on both sides to ensure all panels are securely attached and aligned.
Attach the front panel to the uprights using M6 hardware. Ensure the panel is properly aligned and securely fastened. Next, position the t-slot on the rack. This component can be placed in either a low or high position, depending on your preference and needs. Attach the hook to the t-slot using M6 hardware, threading the bolts through the hook and t-slot. Secure the t-slot and hook, ensuring they are firmly attached and properly aligned. The t-slot provides additional functionality and customization options for your rack.
Using M6 hardware, attach the rear tube to the rear panel. Ensure the holes are aligned and the hardware is properly secured. If you plan to install a shelf, slide the sides of the shelf together and position it behind the Molle panel. Secure the shelf with M6 by 20 and M6 by 25-millimeter screws. The longer screws are used on the outside of the Molle panel, while the shorter ones secure the shelf. Proper installation of the rear tube and shelf is crucial for the functionality and stability of the rack.
After all panels, uprights, and braces are in place, perform a final check to ensure all hardware is started correctly. Fully tighten all bolts and nuts to secure the rack. Double-check all connections for tightness and stability. That’s all there is to it to install Super ATV’s Outfitter rack on this Can-Am Defender.
