What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV, and today I’m going to be showing you how to install Super ATV’s cargo roof rack on this Canam Maverick X3 Max. This step-by-step guide will ensure a smooth installation process, so let’s get right to it!
First, we’re going to prepare the brackets and gaskets. Grab a pack of gaskets and all four brackets. The gaskets need to be cut into eight pieces, each 45 mm in length. To do this, measure out 45 mm on the gasket material and cut it. It doesn’t have to be perfect but try to get it close. Once you have the first piece cut, you can use it as a template to cut the remaining seven pieces to the same length.
Next, peel the backing off one piece of gasket and apply it to the edge of the bracket, covering the hole. It’s okay if it covers the hole, as we will notch it out later. Flip the bracket over, place it on a hard surface, and use a razor blade to trim around the hole, ensuring that the hardware can pass through easily. Repeat this process for all brackets, and make sure to install the gasket on the correct side of each bracket.
Now, take the passenger side rear bracket and the right-side panel. The rear bracket should have a flat bottom with no threads, and the upper part will have a threaded portion. Align the right-side panel with the rear bracket, ensuring the flat bottom is at the bottom. Use the M6 by 16 mm short Allen headed hardware to secure the panel to the bracket. Hand-tighten the screws to hold everything in place. Repeat this process for the driver’s side rear bracket and panel, ensuring both are securely attached.
Next, move on to the front brackets. For the driver’s side, with the side panel laying down and the outside facing up, the bracket should be installed so that the tab is on the outside and the threaded holes are on the inside. Align the bracket with the side panel and use the M6 by 16 mm hardware to secure it. Once the screws are started, hand-tighten them to hold the bracket in place. Repeat this process for the right-side front bracket, ensuring both front brackets are properly installed.
Now, take the brackets that we previously prepared with gaskets. On the side panels, there are multiple holes running down the sides. Locate the set of holes that are slightly higher than the others. These will be used to attach the brackets. Use the M6 by 20 mm screws and M6 nuts to secure the brackets to the side panels, ensuring they are aligned with the higher set of holes. Hand-tighten the screws to hold the brackets in place and repeat this process for all four brackets.
If you have a Super ATV roof already installed, you’ll need to remove specific screws before installing the cargo rack. Remove the screws from the front, the second one back attached to the bracket with the clamp on the cage, and the rear-most screws. Next, apply the gasket material around the perimeter of the roof and around each hole where the hardware will be installed. Double up the gasket around each hole to ensure a proper seal. This step is crucial for preventing leaks and ensuring the cargo rack sits securely on the roof.
Position the driver’s side panel with the brackets installed and secure it to the roof using M6 by 25 mm screws with rubber washers. Start with the front hole and hand-tighten the screw to hold the panel in place. This will allow you to adjust the panel as needed while you install the remaining hardware. Repeat this process for the rear panel, using M6 by 16 mm hardware to secure it to the brackets.
Repeat the same process for the rear and other side panels. Align the panels with the brackets and hand-tighten the hardware to hold them in place. Ensure that all screws are started before fully tightening any of them. This will allow for any necessary adjustments to ensure a proper fit.
Now, it’s time to install the slats. These will run across the top of the cargo rack, providing a platform for carrying gear. Align each slat with the holes on the side panels and secure them using M6 by 20 mm hardware. Start the screws by hand to ensure proper alignment, then go back and fully tighten each one. Continue this process until all slats are installed, ensuring a sturdy and even platform.
For the front and rear brackets, use M6 by 25 mm hardware to secure them through the roof. Ensure that the screws pass through the brackets and into the roof securely. For the rear-most hardware, use M6 by 35 mm hardware, as these need to pass through multiple brackets and the roof. Start all screws by hand to ensure proper alignment, then fully tighten each one.
Make sure the cargo rack is properly adjusted and aligned with the vehicle. Once everything is in place, go through and fully tighten all hardware to ensure a secure fit.
