What’s up guys, Braden here with Super ATV and today I’m going to be showing you how to install SuperATV’s full windshield on this Can-Am Commander. Be sure to check the description below for specific fitment on this windshield so let’s get right to it.
The first thing we’re going to do is grab our 90° bulb seal and we’re going to install it to the lower portion of our windshield. When you’re looking at your windshield, the side with the contour to where it’s bending in, this is going to be the inside. You want to make sure that the bulb seal is facing towards the inside. We’re going to start right here on this bottom edge, feed it all the way around until we get to the other side, and then cut off the excess.
Once you get to this bracket right here, you’re going to have to cut your bulb seal and then start it again on the opposite side of the bracket. Once we have it cut, we’re just going to continue on with our bulb seal on the other side of this bracket. Now that we’ve gotten to this point here, we’ll go ahead and cut off our excess.
Now we’re going to grab our strep mount. You’re going to have a left and a right. The best way to determine which one is which is to take it over to the machine, lay it on the cage, and make sure that your hardware is facing towards the rear of the machine. This will be the driver’s side of the windshield. We’re going to take our M6 by 25 mm hardware, drop our screw through, line it up with the hole on the lower windshield, and install the Nylock nut. Repeat the same steps for the other side.
Now we’re going to grab our catch, our catch support, and our two M6 Allen headed bolts with Nylock nuts. We’ll install this catch just like so, going through these two cutouts on the lower windshield. We’ll raise the windshield up a bit, line up the support, slide the hardware through the windshield and into the support, and then get the Nylock nuts started on the bottom side. Repeat on the opposite side and snug these up.
Now we’re going to grab the gasket out of the kit and apply it to this edge on our windshield. Once you get to this point here, you’ll just go ahead and cut your seal off.
Separate your clamps by removing the 4 mm Allen headed screw. Grab the windshield and head over to the machine. Lay the windshield onto the machine, making sure the clamps slide down into the channel on the inner portion of the cage, and the center bracket slides down between the hood and the dash. Secure the clamps around the inside portion of the cage but keep them loose for adjustments.
Grab the upper portion of the windshield and remove both sides of the protective film. Install the brackets by lining up the two holes with the two holes on the windshield, making sure the tab is facing up towards the upper portion. Use the M6 by 25 mm Allens with the pre-installed sealing washer to secure the brackets. Fully tighten the hardware on both sides.
Now, separate the clamps, grab the provided foam from the kit, and apply it to the top edge of the inner channel of the cage. Run the foam all the way down to the bottom. Once you have the correct length, peel the backing off and stick it down permanently
Install the upper portion of the windshield by laying it right onto the lower portion. Remove the clamp hardware to let the windshield sit down into the channel of the cage. Use the remaining M6 hardware with sealing washers to secure the windshield to the cage. Reattach the clamps and tighten the hardware.
Pick up the windshield to seam it with the lower portion, making sure it sits at the top of the adjustment. Fully tighten the hardware and clamps. Hook up the gas strut using the provided 8 mm hardware. Install the handle support and M6 hardware and adjust the handle and catch to lock the windshield in place.
Make sure the handle locks into the catch, peel the backing off the foam, and stick it down permanently. Fully tighten all hardware and make any necessary adjustments. That’s all there is to it to install SuperATV’s flip windshield on this Can-Am Commander.
