Are you ready to upgrade your visibility and safety? SuperATV’s lighted side view mirrors are a game-changer. These premium mirrors feature integrated white and green LEDs and can be synced with your turn signal kit. In this video, Braden Adams walks you through the full installation process on a Polaris RZR XP 1000.
Welcome back to Grease the Wheels! I’m Braden Adams, and today we’re in my garage working on a Polaris RZR XP 1000. Before we get started, make sure you have the tools you need. If your machine has a windshield, remove it first. Then remove the hood and dash panel using a T40 Torx bit and a panel tool for the center push pins.
Grab your mirror brackets and clamps. Loosen the Allen bolt inside the mirror pivot so you can rotate the mirrors into the upright position. After adjusting, tighten the Allen bolt back up. Next, insert the rubber pieces into the clamp and loosely secure them to the roll cage. Repeat for both sides, making sure you leave room for adjustment later.
Slide the mirror into the bracket. Use the small Allen screws provided in the kit to attach the mirror to the clamp. Tighten the screws completely. Repeat these steps on the other side. Make sure both mirrors are aligned correctly before proceeding.
Take the wires from the mirrors and run them underneath the dash. Reach up from under the dash to grab the wires and pull them toward the center console area. This will make it easier to route the wires to the rocker switch hole.
Unplug the controller on the wiring harness. Feed the harness through the rocker switch hole in the dash, leaving the switch itself in place. If your machine has a knockout, remove it; if not, you may need to cut a slot. For cutting tips, check out SuperATV’s TikTok. Once routed, align and pop the switch into the dash.
The universal harness comes with excess wiring, so consider trimming it to fit your machine. If you’re comfortable with wiring, cut the harness to size and use heat shrink connectors or solder and seal the connections. If not, tuck the wires neatly out of the way for now.
Locate the grommet under the diagnostic port and feed your wires up through it. Route them neatly behind the diagnostic port and leave the fuse inside the dash for easy access. Plug the active connector back in and match the labeled right and left connections to the appropriate mirror cables. Ensure the tabs and arrows line up for a proper fit.
To enable turn signal functionality, connect the blue wire to the right turn signal and the white wire to the left. Crimp them onto your existing SuperATV turn signal kit. When activated, the lights in the mirrors will flash to signal direction without needing to drill into your dash.
Always connect to a keyed-on power source to avoid draining your battery. On Polaris models, the right lug is always hot, the center is ground, and the left is keyed-on. Use a 10mm socket and thin wall socket to access these points. Crimp smaller eyelets for a better fit and secure the connections with heat shrink and a heat gun.
Double-check your connections. Turn the key on to ensure the green and white lights come on. Connect the signal kit to see the turn signal feature activate. While the mirrors can be rewired to work with a separate rocker switch, the kit is designed for integration with the signal kit.
Once everything is connected and functioning properly, tie up and tuck away all loose wires. Reinstall the dash and hood. With everything secured and clean, you’re done. SuperATV’s lighted side view mirrors are now installed and ready for the trail.
