Every UTV manufacturer competes to make the list or, better yet, to be in that number one spot. You know what we’re talking about….the list of the most popular UTVs of the year.
We’ve taken the most popular UTVs of 2024 and made a list separating them into two categories—utility and sport side-by-sides.
Let’s take a look.

Utility-focused UTV are the most capable. They’re built to be your working companion. From yard jobs like spreading mulch to hunting and hauling lumber, a utility side-by-side can easily increase your productivity without adding more stress to your plate. And the five machines listed below are a perfect example of that.
It’s no surprise that a Ranger made the lineup. Regardless of the model, you can count on any Ranger for its versatility, durability, and capability. A Ranger XP 1000 can cost anywhere between $19,000 and $38,000 depending on how you customize it. And if buying a brand new one isn’t in the budget for you, a used one works just as well. The Ranger XP 1000 is one of the most recycled UTVs on the market, meaning they’re built to last and often see multiple owners before they’re retired.
The Ranger is not only known for its multiple storage solutions and high comfortability ratings—its ability to become a crossover machine also comes at the flip of a switch. That’s right, Polaris’ three throttle modes (work, standard, and performance) really push the Ranger over the edge. Not to mention, it’s packed with horsepower and torque, and it comes with a convenient dump bed. It’s no wonder this machine is so popular.

You can walk off the showroom floor with a brand new Can-Am Defender HD10 for $18,500. That’s a heck of a price considering everything you’re getting. Known as the “work warrior,” the Defender comes preloaded with a dump bed, 4,500-pound winch, roof, and full skid plate. Its ergonomic bench seat and spacious cab design bump this machine up in popularity. If you’re spending the majority of your day in the cab of your side-by-side, you’re going to want to be comfortable. The Can-Am Defender is a crowd favorite among farmers and hunters.

Kawasaki takes pride in their mid-size UTVs. And the Mule PRO is at the center of the lineup, making it one of the best utility side-by-side on the market. The Mule is known for its power, comfort, towing capacity, and desirable price tag.
A 965cc engine and centrifugal clutch are behind the Mule’s engine and transmission, giving it a 1,500-pound towing capacity and 700-pound payload capacity. The Mule also comes with more leg, shoulder, and head clearance than most side-by-sides, giving it an A+ in the comfort category.
The Mule gets its popularity from being a mid-size UTV with full-size capabilities.

When you think of John Deere, you probably picture green and yellow. When we think of John Deere, we think of the XUV Gator. It was built for almost every work or recreational activity you can think of—property management, farming, and hunting, to name a few. With a 1,500-pound payload and 4,000-pound towing capacity, there’s literally no job the Gator can’t take on. The Gator comes with all the bells and whistles you need to get the job done, but its popularity comes from its easy-to-use operation.

When it comes to fun and taking on uncharted off-road terrain, sport side-by-sides are the way to go. Whether floating across sand dunes, conquering mountaintops, or nosediving in the mud, there’s a sport UTV that will give you the thrill you’ve been looking for. The four machines listed below have blown everything else in the industry out of the water, making them the most popular sport UTVs on the market.
The RZR lineup is intimidating, beastly, and just doggone powerful. It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that at least one of the RZR models is a crowd favorite. Polaris boasts the RZR XP as the best-selling sport side-by-side of all time. And we don’t doubt it—they up the ante every year! The price of the XP varies depending on the model. You could walk off the showroom floor with a new model for a minimum of $21,000.
With 114 HP, Ride Command Technology, a full skid plate, and turbo-style transmission, the RZR XP is fully equipped for any trail adventure.

What makes Can-Am’s Maverick X3 so popular? It’s wicked fast and powerful. With 200 HP and a 900cc turbocharged triple-cylinder engine, as soon as you hit the gas, you can bet this puppy is going to fly. It can reach up to 80 MPH in its stock configuration alone. Add all that speed to its lower center of gravity, and you get a machine that corners like it’s on rails. The only downside to the Maverick is its lack of storage and other accessories.
But not to worry—that’s where we come in. Complete your machine with these popular Can-Am Maverick X3 accessories:

The Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 is a simple machine, but it can keep up with the more well-known sport UTV manufacturers (like Polaris and Can-Am). It’s not a small machine, but it’s not the biggest on the trail either. Riders boast about its spacious cab. It offers lots of legroom and comes stock with a clear roof, giving that open-cab feeling we all love. Not to mention, Kawasaki’s floor design makes washing out mud and dirt easier than ever. Between superior suspension articulation, top-of-the-line engine braking, and beefy 31-inch tires, there’s no terrain this machine couldn’t dominate.
If the Teryx KRX 1000 is something you’re interested in, you can take home the base model for $23,000 and accessorize it with our KRX 1000 aftermarket accessories. Check these out:

It’s hard to believe Honda has only been in the sport side-by-side market for five years now. Though that’s not very long, Honda’s Talon 1000X is one of the most popular sport UTVs on the market today. The most recently released model of the Talon has a relocated meter, updated switch panel, under-seat storage, reshaped paddle shifter, improved mud protection, revised ignition timing, i-4WD upgrades, launch control, and an enhanced style for a bolder look. Pair all those things with their 999cc parallel-twin engine and you’ve got a monstrous UTV.
Take your Honda Talon to the next level with these UTV accessories:

There’s a UTV out there for everyone—you just have to narrow down your style of riding first. If you’re new to the industry and unsure what machine to go with, this list is a good place to start. KRX out performs the rzr and can ami have owned all 3 and will never buy anything but a krx the rzr is just breaks easily
I wouldn’t say breaks easily. Just my experience, but first thing from the factory to have a hiccup was the primary clutch locking open at 3220 miles. With 132 hours on the meter. 7 months after buying it new. And that was the first time I opened the clutch cover, so it’s likely my fault with how much mud and deep water it’s gone through….
