One of the questions we get the most is, “Can I fit this tire.” And since the Polaris RZR XP 1000 still dominates the trails every weekend, we decided to answer that question for all of you RZR 1K riders.
We’ll cover the max tire size you can fit on a stock machine, what options you have to fit bigger tires, and all the considerations you need to make when you do go big.
This is your guide to RZR XP 1000 max tire sizes.
Before we figure out how to get bigger tires, we have to figure out what kind of tire person you are.
Are you the kind of person who wants:
The good news is that getting bigger tires accomplishes both of those things.
When you get bigger tires, they make every log and ditch you roll over feel smaller thanks to a better angle of attack. If you go big enough (real big), then your tires will always be the first thing to hit a big obstacle—even before your bumper.
To know where you’re going, you need to know where you’re starting. So what size are stock RZR XP 1000 tires?
They start at 29 inches, but everything but the sport trim on 2024+ models comes with 30-inch tires.
That’s not bad, but those sizes will be a distant memory by the time we’re done.

At SuperATV, we measure our max tire size the same way every time. We mount our tire-size tool to the hub, remove the shock, and fully compress the suspension. Then we measure as close to the machine as possible without rubbing.
For front tires, we also turn the wheels fully left and right to make sure there’s no rubbing there either. That’s also why making more room for front tires matters so much.
Point is, we like to be a little conservative with our measurements. If you don’t mind the smell of burning rubber every now and then, you can probably go a little bigger.
If you want 31” tires on your Polaris RZR XP 1000, then put 31” tires on it.
That’s right: the stock RZR XP 1000 max tire size is 31″. No modifications needed.
If you want 32” tires, you’ll need to upgrade to our RZR XP 1000 3” Lift Kit.
It uses front lift brackets and rear spring spacers to get you that little bit of extra clearance to get over rough stuff. And when you upgrade your tires too, you’ll get even more ground clearance.
If you want to get up to 33” tires, you can ditch the lift kit and grab a set of offset A-arms instead.
Our 1.5” Offset A-arms move your front wheel hubs forward and give you tons of room to fit bigger tires.
If you have Dynamix shocks on your RZR, you’ll need our 2” offset A-arms to fit 33” tires.
For 35” tires, you just need to upgrade to our 2” Forward Offset A-Arms. They’re just like our 1.5” A-arms, but they’re 2” instead. Weird how that works.
This one comes with some funky fitment though.
First, models with Dynamix shocks interfere with the tires, so they can only fit 33” tires.
On the other hand, 2024 and newer models have a little extra room. The Polaris RZR XP can fit massive 36” tires—and that’s nothing to turn your nose up at, especially when you consider what’s next on our list.
You can fit 36” Tires on 2023 and older RZR XP 1000 models by installing our 7–10” Lift Kit and setting it to the 10” option.
Considering how big offset A-arms let you get, a big lift is for riders who want a ton of ground clearance to go with their massive tires. It completely replaces all your suspension, including axles, tie rods, A-arms, radius arms, and trailing arms. And they’re all beefed up, SuperATV style, so you can go hard.

Before we get to the really big honkin’ tires section, we need to take a break to talk about your clutch and gear reduction.
So we asked Drew Heideman, our engineering technology manager, why it’s important to get a clutch kit and heavy-duty belt. Here’s what he had to say: ”The additional weight of big tires will create additional heat and strain on your drive belt,” said Drew. “Adding a clutch kit allows you to tune in your engagement to prevent slip and reduce heat caused by that additional rotating mass, all while putting you in the power at the RPM and speed ranges that work best for you.”
Less slippage and heat buildup is always good, but what about your belt? Drew told us, “A new belt is a must for accurate clutching set up and increased grip that you’ll need when you demand more from your machine with bigger tires. Pick the belt that works best for your riding conditions whether that be sand, mud, or general trail riding and hill killing.”
Got all that? If you don’t want to slip constantly and tear up belts with bigger tires, you need a clutch kit and a heavy-duty belt.
But it’s not just your clutch and belt that need upgraded. You need a gear reduction as your tires get bigger and heavier too. They give you power back so your machine won’t feel so sluggish.
So check out our important big-tire products:
Now we’re getting serious—GDP Portals are the best way to lift your machine and give you the potential to go bigger than with any other setup.
For those who don’t know GDP Portal Gear Lifts give you a gear reduction and a lift in one package. They lift your machine right by replacing your wheel hubs and spindles with portal boxes. Those boxes also have a gear reduction built into each one (you get to choose your reduction with GDP!).
The result is a lift that doesn’t change your stock suspension, and it gives you the torque you need to turn bigger tires.
That means you can combo portals with other lift kits to get insane ground clearance and fit tires that would feel at home in a strip mine.
So let’s get into the real-big combos.

4” GDP Portals come with either a 15% or 30% gear reduction (your choice!). 4” portals alone let you run 33” tires, but you’ll need a 30% gear reduction for some of the massive tires you can fit when you get the right combo.
Check out these combos for 2014–2023 RZR XP 1000 models:
You can generally go a little bigger with the 2024 and newer RZR XP 1000 models, but we don’t have a big lift kit for it (yet). The single and dual idler versions fit a little differently, so you get different tire clearance too.
| 2024+ Tire Size Combos | ||
|---|---|---|
| Single Idler Portals | Dual Idler Portals | |
| 4” Portals only | 35” | 36” |
| w/ 3″ Lift Kit | 36” | 38” |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms | 37″ | 39″ |
| w/ 2″ Offset A-Arms | 38″ | 40″ |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms and 3″ Lift Kit | 38″ | 40″ |

44” tires too tame for you? Time to step it up to 6” portals which let you go up to 46”. Plus, they come with 30%, 45%, or 60% gear reductions so you’ll have tons of torque to do whatever you need to. With just portals you can fit 34” tires, but check out what these combos can do on 2014–2023 RZR 1000 models:
1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms or 3-5″ Lift Kit with 6” Portals—Whether you install 1.5” forward offset A-arms or a 3–5” lift kit, you’ll be treated to 36” tires. That’s a full three feet of tire-height glory.
1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms and 3-5″ Lift Kit with 6” Portals—When you combine these two, you get room for 39” tires, which is really getting into that “super-huge” category.
7-10″ Lift Kit with 6” Portals—It’s a big lift stacked on top of a big lift. It doesn’t get much bigger than that. You can fit 46” tires, no problem.
The 2024 and newer RZR XP models fit a little differently. Check out their tire sizes below:
| 2024+ Tire Size Combos | |
|---|---|
| 6” Portals only | 38″ |
| w/ 3″ Lift Kit | 40” |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms | 41″ |
| w/ 2″ Offset A-Arms | 42″ |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms and 3″ Lift Kit | 43″ |
Now things are gonna get crazy. 8” GDP Portals let you go bigger than ever on your RZR XP 1000. We’re talking monster truck levels tire-turning mayhem. Our 8” portals come with 45%, 60%, or 70% gear reductions and can fit 40” tires alone, which is already huge.
But if you want to make the most of that 70% gear reduction, you’ll want to check out these physics-defying lift kit combos. Make sure to grab a frame stiffener and track bars too!
1.5″ Forward Front A-Arms with 8” Portals—We’re starting our list with 42” tires. When 42” is your starting point, you better buckle up.
1.5″ Forward Front A-Arms and 3″ Lift Kit with 8” Portals—This combo will get you 44” tires, and anybody who’s driven with that number stamped on their sidewall will tell you it’s a blessing.
7-10″ Lift Kit with 8” Portals—This is it. The king of all lifts stacked on top of the king of all portals. The biggest and the baddest suspension setup this side of Monster Jam gives you room for 50” tires. Now that will turn some heads. Don’t forget to go with the 70% gear reduction on this one.
Check out the 2024 and newer 8” GDP Portal tire sizes below too!
| 2024+ Tire Size Combos | |
|---|---|
| 8” Portals only | 40″ |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms | 44″ |
| w/ 2″ Offset A-Arms | 44″ |
| w/ 1.5″ Forward Offset A-Arms and 3” Lift Kit | 45″ |
| w/ 2″ Offset A-Arms | 46″ |

That just about covers every last option you have to increase your RZR XP 1000 max tire size. Going big is tons of fun because it lets you take every challenge head-on. Isn’t that why you got a RZR in the first place?
So head on over to SuperATV.com, get loaded up, and enjoy your weekends with bigger grips.

Does this article refer to 2024 RZR xp 1000 models or does it refer to all years?
Great call out, Hank. We haven’t had the opportunity to confirm fitment on the 2024 RZR XP 1000 for many of these parts. Right now, it’s safe to say this article refers to 2023 and older models.
I need to kno if this will be true for pro xp models
Hi Brent! Tire size for the Pro XP is different. Maximum for RZR Pro XP is 33″.
Good day. I have a 2020 RZR RS1. How would these lifts compare? Mostly interested in bigger tires than the 30″ on now.
Hi Darwin,
Unfortunately, we don’t have the same lift options for the RS1. We do offer 4″ portals that would allow up to 34″ tires. https://www.superatv.com/polaris-rzr-rs1-4-inch-portal-gear-lift-g3
What would the different max tire sizes be for a 2021 razor pro XP with the 4, 6 or 8” portals and no changes to anything else.
Hey Robert,
The maximum tire size varies based on portal lift size:
With 4″ portals, the maximum tire size is 34″.
With 6″ portals, the maximum tire size increases to 36″.
Installing 8″ portals allows for a maximum tire size of up to 40″.
Hi I have a Polaris 20/20 razor XP 1000 no Turbo and are considering 31 inch tires that I want to put on my rig but I don’t want to hurt my clutch we use it to plow our driveway so a lot of back and forth and we ride in Moab a lot,
Any info would be greatly appreciated I think I’m okay in the clutch department but don’t really want to spend money or do the work to upgrade the clutch would rather just run 30s
Basically want to know will it hurt to clutch or will burn up the clutcher belts thank you Kurt
Hey Curt,
You can run 31″ tires on your 2020 RZR XP 1000, but it’s not ideal without a clutch upgrade. The stock clutch will work, but you may notice slower acceleration and more belt wear, especially when plowing or riding in Moab. If you want to avoid stress on the clutch, 30″ tires are a safer bet.
I have 4 inch gen 1 portals and a 3” bracket lift and I fit 40 inch tires with ease
Hey Wesley,
We love to hear your feedback! Thanks so much.
